About the Role Deskwork is looking for a Marketing Specialist who creates content for a living and who is comfortable being the face of it. This is a content-first, video-first role. The majority of the work is producing video: scripting it, filming it, editing it, and appearing in it. You will be on camera regularly: talking-head explainers, short-form social video, founder-style pieces, product and service walkthroughs, and event or behind-the-scenes content. If being on camera is not something you enjoy, this is not the role for you. Around that core, you will run Deskwork's social channels, design supporting graphics, and manage email campaigns for the Australia and New Zealand market. The goal is brand awareness, engagement, and inbound leads. Key Responsibilities -Video Content & On-Camera Presence (primary focus) -Appear on camera as a regular presenter for Deskwork content: explainers, short-form social video, and campaign pieces. -Script, film, and edit short-form video (Reels, Shorts, LinkedIn video, TikTok-style formats) on a consistent weekly cadence. -Produce long-form video where required webinars, interviews, case studies, walkthroughs and cut it down into multiple short-form assets. -Direct and coach others on camera, including the founder, leadership, and offshore team members, so recording sessions run efficiently. -Own the full video pipeline end to end: concept, script, shoot, edit, captions, thumbnails, publishing. -Maintain a consistent on-screen presentation style: clear delivery, good framing, clean audio, brand-consistent look. We run Meta and Google Ads, build websites and CRMs, and generate leads for clients across coaching, health, trades, construction, finance and hospitality. We're a small remote team. You'd work directly with me (Marlon, the founder), alongside our media buyer, web builder and designer. What this role actually is I'll be upfront, because it saves us both time. At the moment I'm the one doing the research, working out the angle, writing the hook and d ---------- what we test. I hand that over, and what comes back matches the brief but has no idea behind it, with copy that reads like it came straight out of ChatGPT. That part of my week is what I want to hand off. So the job is this. You get a client, an offer and an ad account, and you come back with ads you can defend. Angles you picked for a reason, written in words an actual buyer would use. If you need a finished brief in front of you before you can start, this will frustrate both of us. Better you skip it. What you'd own Research. Going through the client's offer, their competitors' ads, reviews, sales call notes, form responses, Facebook groups, anywhere the buyer's own words show up. You come back with the objections and the language. Angles. Working out what belief needs shifting, and for who. Funnel stage creative. This is the part that matters most. A top of funnel ad, a middle of funnel ad and a bottom of funnel ad are three different jobs. Cold traffic needs a problem named and something that stops the scroll. Middle of funnel needs the mechanism, the proof and the objections handled. Bottom of funnel needs the offer, a reason to move now and the risk taken off the table. If all three come back looking much the same, we've got a problem. Copy. Hooks, primary text, headlines, calls to action, in plain language. Single most important skill in this role. Statics, built in Canva. They don't need to win awards. They need to stop the scroll and be readable on a phone. Video, also built in Canva. Scripted, cut and captioned by you. Vertical 9:16 for Reels and Shorts is our default format. Talking head, UGC style, screen recordings, slideshows, whatever suits the angle. Our team works in Canva so files stay shared and editable, which makes Canva video skills essential here. Other editors are a bonus, not a substitute. Reading the numbers. Hook rate, hold rate, CTR, cost per lead. Telling me what's dying and what you want to try next, before I have to ask. Turnaround. When I flag something, it gets sorted in your next work session rather than next week. What a normal week looks like It varies. Some weeks are one client and a new offer to go deep on, others are a refresh across a few accounts. What stays consistent: New creative across all three funnel stages for the clients you're on A research or angle doc whenever a new client or a new offer lands A short note each week covering what's working, what's dead and what you want to test next You d ---------- what gets made. I sign off on it, I don't spec it for you. What you need At least two years making Meta ads with real budget behind them. Not spec work, not organic social posts A working understanding of funnels, with examples of ads you've built for different stages Copywriting that sells. You know why "unlock your potential" does nothing Strong Canva skills across both statics and video. Not resizing templates, actually building Comfortable in Ads Manager reading results at creative level Written English good enough to write ads for an Australian audience. It doesn't need to be flawless, but it needs an ear for how people actually talk Sensible use of AI (more on that below) A computer running at least two screens, ideally three. I'm being direct about this because it isn't a preference. You'll be across Ads Manager, Canva, research tabs, transcripts and ClickUp at the same time, and doing that on one monitor slows the work to a crawl. If you don't have the setup now, tell me in your application and we'll sort it out before you start Reliable internet, and you're reachable during AWST business hours How we work We run the team on ClickUp and Hubstaff, so you need to be comfortable with both. ClickUp is where tasks, briefs and creative sit. Everything gets tracked there, so I can see what's in progress without having to chase people for updates. Hubstaff tracks your hours and takes periodic screenshots while you're working. I'd rather say that plainly up front than surprise you with it. It isn't about looking over your shoulder, it's how contractors get paid accurately and how I know a job is properly resourced. If that's not something you're willing to work with, this isn't the right fit and no hard feelings. Helpful, not essential Lead gen for coaching and service businesses. Health, fitness, gyms and nutrition make up a big share of our book, so experience selling to that market is a real advantage Google Ads GoHighLevel Pulling buyer language out of call recordings and form responses On AI I want you using it. Research, competitor angles, summarising reviews and call transcripts, throwing up variations for you to react to, sorting through data. If it halves the time it takes you to get to a good ad, use it. What I won't accept is raw AI output going out as the finished product. The value is in what you do afterwards. Stripping out the generic phrasing, putting the buyer's real words back in, breaking up the rhythm that gives it away, adding the specific detail that only someone who did the research would know to include. Anyone can prompt. What I'm paying for is the judgement to spot when something has come back flat, and the skill to fix it. If it reads like ChatGPT by the time it hits my inbox, it went out too early. Tools are on us. Canva Pro, AI subscriptions, research tools, whatever the job needs. You shouldn't be paying for software out of your own pocket. Don't apply if Your application is AI written. Not because AI is banned here, but I need to hear how you think before I can work out how you'd use it. Rough English with a sharp idea beats polished English with nothing behind it, every time Your portfolio is logos, brand kits and Instagram grids. I need to see paid ads You need a full brief before you can get started What you get Long term ongoing work. I'm looking for someone who stays Every tool you need, paid for Paid on time, every time, through Wise A direct line to me, with no account managers in between Real budgets, real accounts and real data to learn from Room to grow into a lead creative role as the agency grows --- HOW TO APPLY (paste this too, it's the filter) Should take you ten minutes. Miss a step and I won't read it. 1. Subject line, in this format: `CREATIVE STRATEGIST, [Your Name], [best ad you've ever seen that you didn't make]` 2. Three Meta ads you've made. A link or screenshot of each, plus one line on the angle and which funnel stage it was for. Add the numbers if you have them. 3. Write me two hooks. Same offer, same business: an Australian gym owner selling a $5,000 coaching program to other gym owners. One hook for cold traffic who've never heard of him One hook for someone who's already had a sales call and hasn't signed One line on why they're different Just the hooks. No design, no script, no document. 4. Quick answers: How do you use AI in your work, and what do you always do to it afterwards? How many monitors are you running, and are you fine with ClickUp and Hubstaff? Every application that follows the steps gets read. Anyone shortlisted gets a paid trial on a live client account before we talk about anything ongoing. --- --- NOTES FOR MARLON (do not paste) 1. Sort out Denus's lane before you post If this hire lands, Denus becomes execution only, producing from the strategist's briefs. That can work fine and it's cheaper than replacing him, but he should be told that's the structure rather than work it out on his own. Same goes for the referral you were messaging about. If she's a real strategist, send her the two hooks task before you post publicly. Ten minutes of her time, ten seconds of yours, and it might save you the whole hiring round. 2. On the salary AUD $1,200 to $1,500 is roughly USD $780 to $980 at current rates, so worth checking the rate on the day. Genuine creative strategists on OnlineJobs.ph, the ones who research an offer and build the angle without a brief, generally sit around USD $1,000 to $1,600. Your range lands just under that. You can still hire well at this number, but two things help:

READ THIS FIRST We're hiring ONE full-time Inbound Appointment Setter to call warm leads from our Facebook and Instagram ad campaigns for a color-specialist hair salon in Fontana, California. This is NOT cold calling. Every lead you speak to has already raised their hand by submitting their info through one of our ads. Your job is to reach them fast, build trust quickly, understand what they actually want, and guide them into a booked appointment. This role demands two things at once: sharp conversational judgment AND tight process discipline. The conversations are where you win or lose the booking. The process — cadences, call dispositions, CRM hygiene, follow-up tasks — is what makes the whole system work and what lets us measure anything. You need both. People who are great at one and sloppy at the other don't last here. On the conversation side, what we're really hiring for is the ability to think on your feet. Someone replies three days later with just "sorry, been busy." Someone says they want highlights but describes something else entirely. Someone says "that's a bit far for me" but what they really mean is they don't see why it's worth the drive. If you can read what people actually mean and move the conversation forward without being told what to say next, you'll do well here. If you need to be spoon-fed a script for every situation, this won't work. IF YOUR BACKGROUND IS PRIMARILY CUSTOMER SERVICE OR VIRTUAL ASSISTANT AND NOT SALES, PLEASE DO NOT APPLY. OTE: $1,250–$2,000/month (base $900–$1,000 + uncapped performance bonuses). 13th month pay included — paid every December, on top of your base. Not baked in. Not restructured. A full extra month of base pay, added on top. --- ABOUT THE COMPANY You'll be employed by Midnight Siren, a growth and client acquisition company that operates and supports beauty service businesses. Your day-to-day work focuses on a family-owned, color-specialist hair salon in Fontana, California that has served the Inland Empire for over 21 years. The salon has 4.9 stars on Google with 200+ reviews and a stylist team with 75+ combined years of experience. The business is real, established, and respected in its market. You'll work directly under Ethan, the founder of Midnight Siren — no middle managers, no agency layers between you and the person making decisions. The Midnight Siren team is small and tightly focused. The stylists at salon handle the in-salon experience; you and Ethan handle everything that gets a client booked. A note on team structure: you will be the only appointment setter on the team. Your day-to-day working relationship is directly with Ethan. There are no peer-level coworkers, no team chat with other appointment setters, no group energy to feed off. If you thrive with autonomy, clear systems, and a direct manager relationship, this works well. If you need a team environment or peer social dynamic to stay motivated, this will feel isolating over time. We're in an active scaling phase. Core processes exist and are being refined. They don't change daily, but they evolve as we learn. If you like improving systems alongside a team, you'll fit. If you want a fully crystallized corporate environment where nothing ever shifts, you won't. --- WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY BE DOING This is a front-line revenue role, not customer support. Daily: Call new Facebook /Instagram ad leads within minutes of opt-in (speed matters — you'll have task notifications throughout the day) Run our call script for the structured parts of the call, and use our frameworks + your own judgment for discovery and objection handling. The script covers the greeting, the offer, pricing, and the booking ask. Discovery can't be fully scripted — clients say what they say, and you'll need to adapt in real time. Respond to inbound SMS, Facebook ---------- , and Instagram DMs that get escalated to a human when our AI can't handle them Collect cards on file via secure link (never over the phone), book appointments, reschedule, and cancel Call no-shows to get them back on the calendar Coordinate with stylists about client requests and scheduling needs Create follow-up tasks in HighLevel (our CRM) Submit a brief end-of-day report with your numbers Weekly: One coaching/review call with Ethan (~30–45 min) Async coaching via Loom video reviews on your live call recordings between meetings Review your KPIs, own your numbers, and bring data-backed ideas to improve them During training (first 2–4 weeks): We'll meet daily for live coaching to get you fully ramped before transitioning to the weekly + async cadence. --- A WORD ON THE CALL SCRIPT (READ CAREFULLY) We use a script. We also need you to think. Where the script is fixed: the greeting, how we introduce the salon, how we present the offer, how we state pricing, the booking ask, and our core objection responses. These are tested and they work. You run them as written. Your tone, warmth, and pacing are what make them sound human — not changing the words. Where the script can't help you: everything a real client throws at you. A vague text with no context. A client describing a service using the wrong name. Someone who's hesitant but won't say why. Someone who asks about price before you've figured out what they actually want. There is no script for these. There's a framework, and there's your judgment. This is the part people underestimate. A big chunk of this job is not reciting — it's listening to what someone actually means and figuring out the next move in seconds, while they're on the phone with you. Scripts do change here, but only based on data. If you bring an idea for a better line, we'll A/B test it. If it wins, it becomes the script. What we don't do is let setters freelance changes on the fly, because then we can't measure what works. If you want to be told exactly what to say in every situation, this role will frustrate you. If you like having strong structure AND room to think, you'll do well. --- SCHEDULE (PACIFIC TIME — GRAVEYARD SHIFT IN PHILIPPINES) All schedule references in this post are in US Pacific Time. Because PH is 15-16 hours ahead of California, each shift starts late at night your time and ends the following morning. US workdays: Monday through Friday US days off: Saturday and Sunday Hours per day: 8 hours of work + 1 hour of break (30 min lunch + 2× 15 min breaks, or 30 min lunch + 1× 30 min break — your call) Pacific Time (US): 7:45 AM – 4:45 PM PST Philippine Time during US Standard Time (roughly November through mid-March): Shift runs 11:45 PM – 8:45 AM PHT A US Monday shift = late Monday night through Tuesday morning your time A US Friday shift = late Friday night through Saturday morning your time Your days off in PH local time: Sunday and Monday (until your shift starts late Monday night) Philippine Time during US Daylight Savings Time (roughly mid-March through early November): Shift runs 10:45 PM – 7:45 AM PHT Same day-shift logic as above — shift starts the previous calendar evening in PH This schedule is FIXED. It's based on data showing when our booking demand peaks. If you need flexible hours, rotating shifts, or plan to hold another job during these times, this role is not a fit. Please re-read this section carefully and make sure BOTH the standard-time and daylight-savings schedules work for you long-term before applying. The 1-hour shift twice a year is non-negotiable — it follows US business hours. Please make sure BOTH schedules work for you long-term before applying. --- COMPENSATION Base pay: $900–$1,000/month (depending on experience), paid via Wise on the 1st and 15th of every month. 13TH MONTH PAY included — paid every December on top of your regular base, not restructured into it. Prorated in your first year if you start mid-year. Total annualized base compensation including 13th month: $11,700–$13,000. Performance bonuses (uncapped, paid monthly): $3 per new client showed appointment $2 per existing client showed appointment $1 per rebooking confirmation (low-effort confirmation calls for clients who already booked through the salon) Tiered cumulative threshold bonuses (paid monthly): +$75 at 90 showed appointments/month +$150 at 120 showed appointments/month +$350 at 150 showed appointments/month Worked examples: Baseline performer — 90 showed appointments/month: Base: $950 (midpoint) Performance: ~$225 (avg $2.50/show × 90) Threshold bonus: $75 Total: ~$1,250/month Solid performer — 120 showed appointments/month: Base: $950 Performance: ~$300 (avg $2.50/show × 120) Threshold bonus: $225 ($75 + $150) Total: ~$1,475/month Top performer — 150 showed appointments/month (90% show rate on ~167 booked): Base: $1,000 Performance: $450 ($3×90 new + $2×20 existing + $1×40 rebooking) Threshold bonuses: $575 ($75 + $150 + $350) Total: ~$2,025/month This is a PERFORMANCE-PAY ROLE. 30–50% of your monthly income should be earned through bonuses. The base is intentionally modest. If you want a high guaranteed salary with low expectations, this is not the role. --- OTHER BENEFITS 1. Annual performance-based raise after your first year 2. 14 days of PTO per year, single bucket, available after 90-day probation (use for vacation, holidays, sickness — your call). For planned multi-day time off, give us at least 1 week's notice so we can plan coverage. Emergencies are understood — just communicate as soon as you can. 3. 90-day initial probation period.
