Hiring: Direct Response Video Editor (VSLs + AI Cartoon Videos and other AI style ads + Short form videos) DTC / dropshipping brand doing ~$200k/month in revenue Role: Video Editor / AI Video Producer Type: Read this part first We are not looking for someone to "make our videos look nice." We are looking for someone who understands that a video's job is to hold attention and make people buy — and who can build that video end to end, including sourcing or generating every frame of footage inside it. If you need a folder of assets handed to you before you can start editing, this role isn't for you. If you can take a script and a product and come back with a finished, conversion-ready asset, keep reading. Who we are We're a direct response DTC brand currently doing around $200k/month, almost entirely on the back of paid media and creative. Creative is our growth lever. Not the site, not the offer tweaks, not the email flows — the video. That means the editor seat is one of the highest-leverage roles in the company. When a video wins here, it wins loudly and you'll see it in the numbers within days. We're scaling, and we want to stop stitching together freelancers per project. We want one highly skilled person who becomes part of the team, learns our angles and our customer inside out, and gets sharper with every batch we ship. How this role starts (please read carefully) This does not begin as a full-time position, and that's deliberate. We start every editor on a lighter workload — a smaller number of videos per week — for the first stretch. Not because we're testing whether you can hold a job, but because we want to see how you fit: how you take feedback, how you handle a script we hand you, how you communicate when something's unclear, and whether the work holds up once the novelty wears off. It also gives you time to learn our customer, our angles, and what a "winning" video looks like in our account specifically. From there it scales. As the fit proves out and your creatives start performing, the volume goes up, the pay goes up, and the arrangement moves toward a secure, permanent full-time seat — with a defined monthly retainer rather than per-project work. To be clear about what we're offering: Phase 1 — Fit: Lower volume, paid per project or at a smaller retainer. Heavy feedback from us. We're both figuring out if this works. Phase 2 — Ramp: Volume increases, you take on the VSLs and the AI cartoon projects with less hand-holding, pay increases accordingly. Phase 3 — In-house: Full-time, secure retainer, you own the creative pipeline and have real input on direction. Room to grow into a creative lead as we bring on more editors. We're not looking for someone to fill a gap for three months. We're looking for the person who's still here in two years running our creative. The slow start is how we get there without either of us wasting the other's time. If you need immediate full-time income from day one, this probably isn't the right fit right now — and that's fine, just be upfront about it. What you'll actually be making 1. Long-form VSLs (Video Sales Letters) The core of the role. 2–7+ minute sales videos built off scripts we provide. You'll be responsible for: Pacing the entire video so retention doesn't collapse — pattern interrupts, cuts, zooms, motion, sound design, text emphasis, visual proof Sourcing your own b-roll. Stock libraries, licensed footage, UGC-style clips, screen recordings, archival, whatever the script calls for. You find it. You don't ask us to send it. In some cases we will also provide clips and we have a bunch of softwares that you can use to make this process easier aswell. Generating AI video to fill the gaps stock can't cover — visualizing mechanisms, metaphors, before/after states, scenarios that don't exist as footage. Building the visual language for a section, not just laying clips over a voiceover Kinetic text, callouts, subtitles, on-screen proof elements, testimonial treatments Sound design and music that carries emotional beats without burying the VO 2. AI cartoon / animated videos (short form AND long form) We're producing a growing volume of fully AI-generated animated content — story-driven ads, explainer content, character-led narratives. You'll take a script and: Build a consistent character and world (this is the hard part — character consistency across dozens of shots is a real skill and we'll be testing for it) Generate the shots yourself using AI image + video tools Handle lip sync, voiceover, and audio Cut it into a video that actually flows as a story rather than a slideshow of AI clips Deliver in both short form (15–60s, vertical) and long form formats 3. Short form paid ads Hook-first ads for Meta / TikTok. High volume, fast iteration. Multiple hook variants of the same body. You'll be cutting these constantly, and you'll be expected to have opinions about which hooks are worth testing. What we need you to be good at Non-negotiable: Editing that converts, not just editing that looks good. You understand hooks, retention curves, pattern interrupts, why the first 3 seconds d ---------- everything, and how to build toward a CTA. If you've never thought about a video in terms of watch time or CPA, you're not ready for this seat. Sourcing your own footage. Independently. You know where to find good b-roll, Generating AI video yourself. Not "willing to learn" — actually doing it now. You know how to prompt, how to iterate when a generation is wrong, how to maintain consistency, and how to upscale and clean up output so it doesn't look like AI slop. Strong technical craft — clean cuts, deliberate pacing, proper audio levels, colour that matches across mixed sources, subtitles that don't look like an afterthought. Speed. We ship a lot. Quality at volume is the whole game. Ownership. You get a script and a brief and come back with a finished asset. You flag problems early. You don't go quiet for four days. Tools — you should be fluent in most of these or their equivalents: Editing: Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, or CapCut. AI video: Higgsfield, Veo, Kling, Runway, Sora, Hailuo, Seedance — or whatever you've found works better AI image: Midjourney, Flux, Nano Banana, Ideogram Voice: ElevenLabs or similar Upscaling / cleanup: Topaz, Magnific Bonus: Descript, Adobe Podcast, motion graphics templating, basic scripting/automation for batching Removing text from video: Vmake Nice to have: You've written or restructured direct response scripts before You've worked on offers in health and wellnes niche You can take a competitor's winning ad, break down why it works, and build a better version You track what's new in AI video weekly because you find it genuinely interesting Who this is NOT for Editors who only work from supplied assets People who see AI tools as a threat or a gimmick "Cinematic" editors who make beautiful videos that don't sell Anyone who needs to be chased for updates Agencies or people who'll pass the work to a junior. We want the person doing the work. What you get A real seat on a growing team. We start light on purpose, but the destination is a secure full-time role — and if it works, we build our creative operation around you. Direct feedback loop on your work. You'll see spend, retention data, and CPA on the creatives you cut. Most editors never get this — it's the fastest way to get genuinely good. Budget for tools and subscriptions. We're not going to bottleneck you over a $50/mo AI credit plan. Performance bonuses when your creative becomes a winner. Room to grow into a creative lead role as we scale and bring on more editors under you. Fast decisions. Small team. No layers of approval. How to apply Please follow this exactly — it's the first filter. Send your portfolio. We want to see, specifically: At least one long-form VSL or long-form sales video you cut At least one AI-generated video you produced yourself (cartoon/animated preferred) Short form paid ads if you have them For 2–3 of those videos, tell us in one or two lines each: what the goal was, what you did to hold attention, and any performance numbers you're allowed to share (spend, ROAS, retention, CTR — whatever you have). Tell us your AI stack. Which tools you use for what, and one problem you've solved with them that most people get wrong. Your rate and your realistic capacity — how many long-form videos and how many short form ads per week. Turnaround time on a typical 10-minute VSL, assuming script and VO are provided. Confirm you're okay with the ramp-up structure — starting at lower volume and building toward full-time. One line is enough.
