Part-Time Fight Footage Tagger (Boxing, Muay Thai), Paid Per Round, Long-Term Role
Confidential employer
Get paid to watch fights the way a coach does: every punch, kick, knee and elbow, nothing missed.
ABOUT US
We're a small UK-based combat sports analytics company. Coaches send us fight footage from Muay Thai, kickboxing, boxing and MMA, and we turn every strike into data they use to prepare their fighters: what landed, what didn't, and the patterns behind it. The analysis is only as good as the tagging underneath it, and that's the job.
Please read this ad to the end. There's a specific instruction for applying.
IMPORTANT: WE'RE HIRING FOR THE LONG TERM
We're building a small, trained team, not a crowd. Training someone properly takes weeks, so we want people who will stay for years, and we'd rather pay well and keep one good tagger than keep replacing people. If you're looking for something to fill a few months, this isn't the right fit.
THE ROLE
You'll watch fight footage one round at a time and log every strike into a fixed template, one row per strike: who threw it, what it was, what it targeted, whether it landed, was blocked, missed or was a feint, how the opponent reacted, distance and ring position.
We have a written standard that tells you exactly how to tag each field. Every field gets filled in. When the footage doesn't clearly show the answer, you enter your best guess and mark it as unsure in the comments. An honest "unsure" is never held against you. A guess that isn't marked as one is the most serious error in this job, and that rule matters more than speed.
Your first month is a learning period. You'll work only on publicly broadcast fights, every round you submit gets a full review, and we'll send written feedback. Once your accuracy is consistent, you move onto private footage from our coach clients, with more volume and a higher rate.
We're a growing business, so we'll be honest about volume: expect around 5 to 10 rounds a week at the start, growing as our client base grows. The people who join now are the ones who grow with it.
PAY
- $9 (approx 515 PHP) per round during training and on broadcast fights
- $10.50 per round once you move onto client footage
- +$1 per round bonus for any month you hit our accuracy target on the monthly check round
Paid weekly via Wise or PayPal. A round takes about 1.5 to 2 hours once you know the system, and longer while you're learning. Experienced taggers get faster, so the better you get, the more you earn per hour. Rounds that don't meet the standard come back to you for correction before payment.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Real striking knowledge beyond boxing. You train, used to train, coach, or have watched Muay Thai or kickboxing closely for years. You can tell a feint from a missed shot without thinking about it.
- Comfort reading the clinch: knees, elbows and short strikes in close.
- Patience with careful, repetitive work. One round can mean 100 or more rows, each one checked.
- Honesty about uncertainty. Knowing when you can't tell, and saying so, is a skill here.
- Someone who notices things and says so. If our standard is unclear or wrong somewhere, we want to hear it.
- Good written English, a laptop or desktop, and a stable internet connection.
- Willingness to sign a confidentiality agreement before working on client footage.
WHAT THIS ISN'T
General data entry or annotation work. Video editing. Anything you can do with the fight on in the background. If you don't enjoy watching fights closely, this job will be miserable.
TO APPLY
Instead of a greeting, start your message with your full name and then the words "southpaw jab". Applications without it won't be read.
Then tell us:
1. What is your connection to combat sports? Be specific: which disciplines, training, competing, coaching, or which fighters you've studied.
2. What is the difference between a cross and an overhand?
3. In Muay Thai, what is the difference between checking a teep and a round house kick?
4. If you're watching a round and can't tell whether a strike landed or was blocked, what should you do?
HIRING PROCESS
1. Short practical test (about 15 minutes): you watch a short clip and send us a voice note describing each strike in a set format.
2. Video call: we walk you through our system and answer your questions.
3. Paid test round: you tag one full round using our standard, paid in full whether or not you're selected.
4. Paid trial of 5 rounds, then ongoing work.
