About the Position

Today's Business is a U.S.-based digital marketing agency looking for an exceptional Senior WordPress Developer who can take full ownership of our website development department.

We are not looking for an entry-level developer or someone who simply completes assigned tasks. We need a highly skilled, proactive, organized professional who can independently manage multiple client websites, oversee projects, communicate with our team, and ensure everything gets done correctly and on time.

A major priority is expertise with Claude AI and Claude Code. We want someone who uses AI to dramatically improve development efficiency without sacrificing quality, performance, creativity, or brand consistency.

Our ideal candidate combines excellent technical skills, strong design judgment, outstanding English communication, and the ability to manage a fast-paced agency website department.

Key Responsibilities

WordPress Development & Technical Management

• Build, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize WordPress websites.
• Work extensively with WordPress and Avada.
• Handle custom development using PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and relevant technologies.
• Manage website hosting, DNS, plugins, backups, security, and third-party integrations.
• Optimize website speed, mobile responsiveness, Core Web Vitals, and technical SEO.
• Resolve urgent website issues efficiently.
• Thoroughly test and review all work before deployment.

Claude AI & Development Efficiency

• Use Claude and Claude Code to accelerate development, coding, debugging, and troubleshooting.
• Create efficient workflows and automations that reduce repetitive manual development work.
• Review, test, and improve AI-assisted code.
• Ensure websites remain secure, maintainable, and performant.
• Proactively identify ways to increase productivity through AI.

Important: We do not want generic AI-generated websites or low-quality AI designs. AI should make development faster and better, not replace professional judgment or creative quality.

Creative Team Collaboration

• Collaborate directly with our internal graphic designers and creative team.
• Accurately translate approved creative designs into polished, fully functional websites.
• Follow client brand guidelines, typography, colors, spacing, layouts, and visual standards.
• Maintain consistency across desktop, tablet, and mobile.
• Have an exceptional eye for detail, design quality, and user experience.
• Ensure finished websites look professionally designed, not AI-generated.

Website Department & Project Management

• Take full ownership of our website department's daily operations.
• Oversee multiple client projects simultaneously.
• Manage timelines, priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Keep all website projects, tasks, statuses, and deadlines updated in ---------- .
• Proactively communicate potential delays and resolve problems before they escalate.
• Coordinate directly with account managers on client requests and project expectations.
• Provide weekly project updates and department reporting.
• Develop processes that make the department more efficient and organized.

Slack Communication & Team Leadership

• Be consistently available and highly responsive on Slack during agreed working hours.
• Answer questions from account managers promptly and professionally.
• Communicate clearly about website issues, project status, and completion timelines.
• Attend weekly website department huddles and other necessary meetings.
• Participate in occasional client calls when needed.
• Oversee and delegate appropriate development and administrative tasks to our existing Philippines-based virtual assistant.
• Review delegated work and maintain accountability for quality.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional WordPress development experience.
• Advanced WordPress, PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills.
• Strong experience with Avada or comparable WordPress development frameworks.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Claude AI and AI-assisted development, preferably Claude Code.
• Experience managing multiple client websites in an agency environment.
• Strong design judgment and ability to work from established brand guidelines and creative designs.
• Excellent written and spoken English, with professional communication skills.
• Strong organizational and project management abilities.
• Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
• Experience using Slack and project management systems.
• Reliable internet connection and ability to consistently support U.S. Eastern Time business hours.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working for a U.S.-based digital marketing agency.
• Experience managing other developers or virtual assistants.
• Experience with ---------- .
• Strong knowledge of Figma and converting creative designs into WordPress.
• Experience with WooCommerce, GA4, Google Tag Manager, APIs, and marketing integrations.

Hours & Availability

We require consistent service coverage Monday through Friday, 9 AM–5 PM U.S. Eastern Time.

This is an overnight schedule in the Philippines.

The selected provider must be responsive through Slack and ---------- during these hours and participate in required team meetings.

Occasional urgent evening or weekend support may be requested, with availability, scope, and compensation agreed upon in advance.

Contract Structure

This opportunity is intended as a business-to-business (B2B) professional services arrangement rather than a traditional employment position.

The selected provider will be required to operate through an appropriately registered business and enter into a professional services agreement with Today's Business before services begin.

We prefer a flexible, month-to-month arrangement with no mandatory long-term commitment and clearly defined termination provisions, subject to applicable law.

The provider will be responsible for their own business administration, invoicing, and applicable taxes.

Business registration is not required to submit an application but will be necessary before entering into the final agreement.
