About the Role

We are not hiring experience. We are hiring a way of thinking.

JABO REI is a US real estate investment firm. Our hardest problems are document problems: files that don't add up, records that contradict each other, processes that stall for reasons nobody has named. We will teach you our domain — property, probate, paperwork — from zero. What we can't teach is the instinct we're hiring for, so this posting describes the instinct, not the résumé.

The work

You will take ownership of one document-heavy process end-to-end: our probate packet pipeline — the document set that moves a property from signed agreement to a filed court case. Owning it means three things: run it to a standard, find out why it stalls when it stalls, and rebuild the standard so it stalls less. You will work from primary sources — court records, county records, signed documents — and your work is judged on whether it is proven, not whether it is filled in.

You will thrive here if this sounds like you:

  • When two documents disagree, you can't rest until you know which one is wrong, and why.
  • You ask the third question — the one after the obvious follow-up — because the second answer still didn't explain the first.
  • You can tell the difference between "it's written down" and "it's verified," and the difference bothers you.
  • When nobody knows the answer, you go read the source material and build one, instead of waiting to be told.
  • You write clearly enough that someone else could retrace your reasoning step by step.
  • Being wrong early, in the open, is fine with you. Bluffing is not.

Please don't apply if:

  • You prefer a fixed script and a supervisor's answer for every exception.
  • "Probably fine" has ever been your final check on anything important.
  • You need the task list complete and unambiguous before you can start.

Background: none required in real estate, title, or law. Our best-fit people come from audit, quality assurance, research, bookkeeping, troubleshooting, teaching, engineering — anywhere the real job was figuring out why something was actually wrong. A degree helps you not at all unless the habits above came with it.

Pay and process: $5/hr starting, flexible based on skill level — the assessment process is how we see where you land. Remote; hours set with the role.

How hiring works here (same for everyone, no exceptions):

1. Answer the application question below.
2. A personal packet: your résumé plus a free DISC assessment.
3. Two timed online tests — one aptitude, one curiosity. We hire from these results more than from résumés.
4. Interview.

Application question (required): Tell us about a time the stated problem turned out not to be the real problem. What was the clue that the first explanation was wrong, and what did you do about it? Specifics, please — vague answers are how we screen out.
