SENIOR BOOKKEEPING ASSISTANT (U.S. ACCOUNTING | REMOTE)

We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeping Assistant who brings accuracy, ownership, and clear communication to every task. This role supports U.S.-based clients and internal operations and requires strong judgment—not just data entry.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Maintain and review books in QuickBooks Online and Xero

Reconcile bank and credit card accounts with precision

Identify, flag, track, maintain and process 1099 vendors/contractors

Support U.S. payroll workflows through providers such as Gusto, ADP, and Paychex

Apply double-entry accounting principles confidently

Identify, prepare, and post manual journal entries when required

Flag inconsistencies, errors, or missing documentation proactively

Communicate clearly with leadership and client regarding financial issues or risks

Support month-end close, year-end close and operational bookkeeping processes

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE (NON-NEGOTIABLE)

Proven experience with QuickBooks Online and/or Xero

Practical understanding of U.S. payroll processing (third-party providers)

Strong grasp of double-entry accounting

Experience creating manual journal entries with proper documentation

High attention to detail and accuracy

Professional written and verbal communication skills
