Microsoft 365
About the Role

NewClear Computing is a small Australian IT company. We support several Microsoft 365 tenants for professional-services clients. You would work directly with the director on the day-to-day tenant work, following clear procedures, and hand anything sensitive or unusual back to him.

Location: Remote / Philippines. Category: IT / Systems Administration / Microsoft 365.

What you would do

  • Onboard and offboard users: accounts, licences, groups, shared mailboxes and basic access
  • Troubleshoot Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, MFA and sign-in problems
  • Make routine Exchange Online changes (mailbox settings, distribution lists, shared mailbox permissions)
  • Keep an eye on licence counts and flag unused or missing seats
  • Help with cloud email signatures (tools like CodeTwo) and check they look right on desktop and phone
  • Help plan and run a Dropbox to OneDrive/SharePoint migration using Microsoft Migration Manager: scan, map users and folders, monitor the copy, and check that files and permissions landed correctly
  • First-line helpdesk for Windows 11 PCs and Microsoft 365 / Office apps (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, OneDrive)
  • Help with cybersecurity basics: MFA, safe sign-in, endpoint protection, and following security procedures
  • Help with ThreatLocker: track application blocks and software-request tickets, help users when something is blocked, follow the documented allowlisting process, and report what you did. Do not change ThreatLocker policies without the director's approval.
  • Track helpdesk and client requests (what was asked, what you did, and what is still open) so nothing gets lost.
  • Speak directly with Australian professional-services clients in clear, polite English (phone, email or chat) to take requests, explain simple fixes, and escalate anything sensitive or unusual back to the director
  • Write down what you changed, so there's a clear record
  • Escalate security events, privileged changes, migrations and anything that could affect more than one user

You would not be given standing Global Admin access. You would use a named admin account with the least access needed, MFA on everything, and only the tenants you're assigned.

What we're looking for

  • At least 2 years' hands-on Microsoft 365 administration
  • Comfortable with Entra ID (users, groups, MFA), Exchange Online, SharePoint or OneDrive, and Teams
  • Clear written English
  • Able to overlap Australian business hours (about 6am-2pm Philippines time, Monday to Friday)
  • Your own reliable computer and internet, and you're happy working as a contractor
  • Careful with confidential information
  • Windows 11 desktop support experience
  • Comfortable talking to end users / clients, not only doing backend admin
  • Cybersecurity awareness (MFA, phishing, least privilege)

Useful extras: ThreatLocker or similar allowlisting / endpoint security tools (training can be given), experience in an MSP or with more than one tenant, Intune, PowerShell, Microsoft certifications (MS-102, MD-102 or MS-900), familiarity with tools like CodeTwo or an RMM/MDR product, or Dropbox/Google Drive/file-share migrations to OneDrive/SharePoint.

How to apply
Send your CV, a short note on the Microsoft 365 work you've done, the hours you can do each week, and a 1-2 minute video introducing yourself.

Part-time contractor, 20 hours per week. Pay: A$700-A$1,000 per month (AUD).
