Social Media Engagement Specialist
Confidential employer
COMPANY OVERVIEW
We are a home-renovation group in the Netherlands with a bathroom brand, a tile brand, a bathroom-installation brand and a wider group of home-improvement brands. Our content team films in our showroom and at customers' homes; our brands' Instagram, Facebook and ---------- accounts are where that content lands and where conversations with future customers start. We are hiring two people for this role: one for our bathroom and tile brands, one for the group brands. Same job, same hours, same pay. We d ---------- the split after the interviews.
JOB DESCRIPTION
You keep our brand accounts alive and growing with real interaction, every day. You are not the one who films or designs the content: our creative director, video editor and AI content creator deliver it. You schedule it from the content calendar, you publish it, you reply to every comment and message, and you go out and start conversations with the right people: homeowners who are renovating, interior accounts, local businesses and installers. All of it in Dutch, from approved templates through our AI workflow, with a Dutch-speaking colleague who checks anything new. When someone in your DMs is clearly looking for a bathroom, tiles or an installer, you hand them over to our sales team with the context they need.
MAJOR FUNCTIONS
Daily engagement routine per account: a target list of accounts and hashtags in our niche, meaningful comments and replies (not “nice!”), saves and follows, and DMs that start a conversation. Logged every day.
Reply to every comment and message on our own posts within the agreed time, in Dutch, from approved templates and reply suggestions. Ask the follow-up question that keeps the conversation going.
Schedule and publish from the content calendar (Metricool): reels, carousels, stories and TikToks that the content team delivers, at the right times for the Dutch audience, with the right captions and hashtags.
Make simple posts and stories yourself in Canva from brand templates when the calendar has a gap or something topical comes up: a showroom photo, a poll, a before-and-after.
Spot the leads: anyone in the comments or DMs who is actually renovating or looking for a supplier goes to our sales team in our CRM, with what they said and what they need. Partners (installers, stores) go the same way.
Weekly numbers per account: followers, reach, engagement rate, DMs started and received, hand-overs made, and the three posts that worked best and why.
Tell the content team what the audience reacts to, which questions keep coming back, and what competitors are doing that works.
REQUIRED SKILLS
You have run engagement for a brand or client account, not only your own: tell us the account, the niche, what you did daily and what happened to the numbers over a period you choose.
Instinct for real interaction. You know the difference between a comment that starts a conversation and one that reads as spam, and you can show us examples you wrote.
Canva: you make clean posts and stories from a template, fast. Show us two or three you made for an interior, home or lifestyle account.
Disciplined daily rhythm: the accounts don't pause on weekends, so we agree a schedule and you keep it. You log what you did without being asked.
You work strictly with templates and a Dutch check for anything you publish in Dutch. One wrong sentence on a brand account is seen by thousands.
You know Instagram, Facebook and ---------- as a professional: what each algorithm rewards, what gets an account restricted, and how to use the scheduler and insights.
Clear written English for your weekly numbers and for working with the team.
TOOLS WE USE
Experience with these is a plus. Tell us which ones you have worked with.
Instagram, Facebook and ---------- business accounts, with Meta Business Suite.
Metricool for scheduling and reporting.
Canva Teams with brand templates.
An AI assistant and DeepL for Dutch texts, with a native check.
Bitrix24 (CRM) for hand-overs and chat with the team.
NICE TO HAVE
Experience in the home, interior, bathroom or renovation niche.
Experience with accounts for a physical store or showroom (local audience, visits as the goal).
Short-form video basics: trimming a clip, adding captions, posting a reel from raw material.
Knowledge of Dutch or German.
AVAILABILITY
Part-time, about 20 hours per week, spread over 5 to 6 days, including a short check on weekends. Our audience is most active in the Dutch evening, which is late evening in the Philippines, so we agree together which hours you cover. You have a weekly check-in with our head of content during Amsterdam business hours (CET/CEST). A reliable, high-speed internet connection is required.
EXPECTATIONS
Followers are not the goal; conversations are. We expect you to show up every day, to treat every comment and DM as a person and not a metric, to log honestly what you did and what it produced, and to tell us when something in the content isn't working, even if we made it.
WORKING CONDITIONS / SALARY
$159/month. Part-time now, with room to grow to more hours and more accounts. Long-term, stable role. Two positions.
BONUSES
Paid Time Off after 1.5 months · salary reviews every 2–3 months · professional-development budget · second monitor after 6 months · new laptop after 2 years.
HOW TO APPLY
Start your message with the word “REPLY” so we know you have read the full post. Then answer these four questions, 3 to 6 sentences each:
Describe one account you ran engagement for (a brand or client, not your own): the niche, your daily routine, and the numbers over a period you choose (followers, reach, engagement rate, DMs, leads). What did you change that made the biggest difference?
Here are three posts you would see on an interior account: (a) a before-and-after of a small bathroom renovation, (b) a photo of a tile wall in a showroom, (c) a reel of an installer fitting a shower. Write one comment for each, in English, that starts a conversation with the account owner. No “nice!”, no emoji-only, no “check our page”.
Someone replies under a post of ours: “Looks great, we're renovating our bathroom in the spring, roughly what does something like this cost?” Write your reply in English, as you would brief it to our Dutch check, and say what you do next with this person.
Our accounts are in Dutch and you don't speak it. How do you write comments and replies, judge whether a reply from our templates fits the situation, and read 50 comments a day in a language you don't speak? Be specific about your workflow and where you would want a Dutch colleague to check.
Also include:
Links to two or three Canva posts or stories you made for an interior, home or lifestyle account, and the handle of one account you ran engagement for. Only share what already exists; please don't build anything for this.
Which hours (Philippine time) you can cover, including weekends, and which hours you are available for a check-in with our Dutch team.
We read every application that starts with the codeword and answers the questions specifically. Generic or copy-paste replies aren't considered.
