About Summit FP&A Solutions

Summit FP&A Solutions is a growing U.S.-based financial consulting company specializing in financial planning, profitability improvement, and fractional CFO services.

We work with small and mid-sized businesses, including remodeling and construction companies and residential care businesses.

We're looking for an experienced, highly independent accounting professional who can take full ownership of bookkeeping operations across multiple U.S. clients.

This is not an entry-level bookkeeping or data-entry role. We need someone with strong accounting judgment who can identify problems, resolve discrepancies, and maintain accurate financial records with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Bookkeeping & Accounting Management

  • Independently manage QuickBooks Online bookkeeping for multiple U.S.-based clients.
  • Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Complete historical bookkeeping cleanup and catch-up projects.
  • Review and correct transaction classifications and journal entries.
  • Maintain accurate charts of accounts and client-level reporting structures.
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and outstanding balances.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, including profit and loss and balance sheet reports.
  • Identify unusual transactions, missing information, and accounting discrepancies.
  • Maintain organized month-end close documentation.

Construction & Project Accounting

  • Track project expenses and profitability through QuickBooks Online.
  • Manage construction job costing and project-level expense classifications.
  • Understand progress billing, deposits, subcontractor payments, retainage, and change orders.
  • Reconcile project billings and payments against accounting records.
  • Support accurate financial reporting by construction project.

Client Accounting Oversight

  • Independently manage assigned client accounts and monthly close deadlines.
  • Proactively communicate missing information and outstanding reconciliation items.
  • Maintain consistent bookkeeping procedures across multiple businesses.
  • Escalate accounting issues requiring management decisions.
  • Prepare clean financial records for tax preparers and CFO-level financial analysis.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of professional bookkeeping or accounting experience, including substantial experience with QuickBooks Online.
  • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online, including reconciliations, journal entries, reporting, and historical cleanup.
  • Verifiable QuickBooks certification or equivalent demonstrated expertise; active QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated construction accounting experience, including job costing and progress billing.
  • Experience supporting U.S.-based businesses and accounting practices.
  • Strong understanding of accrual accounting and financial statements.
  • Experience managing multiple client accounts independently.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and professional judgment.
  • Ability to work independently without daily supervision.

A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is preferred. A CPA license is not required.

Employment Structure & Compensation

  • Initial position: Part-time, hourly independent contractor.
  • Starting compensation: $10–$12 USD per hour, based on experience.
  • Initial workload: Approximately 2-10 hours per week as needed, with hours approved in advance. Actual hours may be lower during the initial transition.
  • Workload will increase as new clients are onboarded.
  • Potential to transition into a full-time role as business demand grows; full-time employment is not guaranteed.
  • Flexible working schedule with availability for scheduled meetings during Arizona business hours (7:30 AM–4:30 PM MST, UTC−7).

How to Apply

Please provide the following:

1. Your resume and total years of professional accounting experience.
2. How many years you have used QuickBooks Online professionally.
3. Your QuickBooks certification and a way to verify it, if applicable.
