IT Manager — Remote (Independent Contractor)
Confidential employer
We're a U.S.-based consumer products company selling woodworking adhesives across Amazon, Walmart, and Home Depot. Every department — Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, HR — runs on automations, integrations, and AI agents that must work without interruption. We need an IT Manager who keeps that infrastructure alive and builds the next layer of it. This role is not IT support. It is infrastructure ownership.
WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS
We run production Python scripts and Google Apps Scripts 24/7 across Linux VPS environments. We have API connections into Gusto, Hubstaff, Cin7, Amazon Seller Central, Walmart Seller Center, and GPT/Claude/MCP connectors. We're building a custom ERP and expanding our AI agent infrastructure across every department. Our current IT function has no single owner. That changes with this hire.
WHAT YOU OWN
- Server infrastructure — Linux VPS uptime, cron jobs, process monitoring, and i ---------- response
- API and integration management — token lifecycle, OAuth 2.0 renewals, webhook reliability
- AI agent deployment — GPT/Claude/MCP connector maintenance, prompt pipeline stability, new agent onboarding
- Credential and access security — secrets management, permission audits, zero-exposure protocols
- Custom ERP development support — IT architecture input, environment configuration, deployment coordination
- Helpdesk operations — internal ticket triage, SLA enforcement, escalation handling
- Subscription and vendor management — license tracking, renewal calendars, cost optimization
- Disaster recovery — backup systems, DR plans, and twice-yearly drills
- IT project management — scoping, timelines, cross-department coordination
WHAT GOOD LOOKS LIKE
- Near-perfect uptime across all production systems
- Zero token expirations causing integration failures
- 100% runbook coverage for every system you own
- Monthly security and access audit completed by the 5th
- Helpdesk tickets resolved within 1 hour (critical) / 4 hours (standard)
- DR drills completed twice per year with documented results
