About the Position
We are a U.S.-based homeschooling family seeking a highly skilled, dedicated, and engaging online elementary teacher to provide personalized instruction for our second-grade child.
Our child follows the OVS/FLVS curriculum, and we need a teacher who can confidently teach the assigned material, explain concepts clearly, assess comprehension, and maintain excellent academic progress.
We are looking for a genuine educator, not simply a homework assistant or general English tutor.
The ideal candidate is academically strong, organized, warm, motivating, and capable of developing independent thinking and a strong academic foundation.
Key Responsibilities
Teach and explain assigned OVS/FLVS lessons according to the official curriculum and pacing guides.
Provide excellent instruction in English Language Arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.
Strengthen reading fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, spelling, grammar, sentence construction, and paragraph writing.
Teach mathematical concepts using clear explanations, visual models, worked examples, and practical applications.
Develop problem-solving, reasoning, critical thinking, and independent learning skills.
Support the student in understanding and independently completing assignments.
Conduct regular practice quizzes, oral questioning, comprehension checks, and mastery assessments.
Review coursework and feedback, identify errors, and reteach difficult concepts.
Prepare the student for required Discussion-Based Assessments (DBAs) and teacher evaluations without scripting answers.
Track weekly assignments, deadlines, academic performance, and areas requiring improvement.
Communicate proactively with parents about progress, challenges, and upcoming assessments.
Provide brief daily reports and a comprehensive weekly progress summary.
Encourage academic confidence, curiosity, responsibility, self-discipline, and a positive attitude toward learning.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a closely related teaching field.
Preferably a Philippine Licensed Professional Teacher (LPT).
At least 2 years of relevant elementary teaching experience, preferably Grades 1–3.
Excellent spoken and written English, including strong grammar and writing instruction.
Strong elementary mathematics knowledge and the ability to explain concepts in multiple ways.
Proven experience delivering interactive online lessons to young learners.
Ability to recognize misunderstandings and adjust teaching methods.
Excellent organizational, lesson-planning, and communication skills.
Patient, encouraging, dependable, and committed to high academic standards.
Reliable internet, webcam, headset, quiet workspace, and backup connectivity.
Willingness to provide verifiable references and complete appropriate screening.
Preferred: Experience with U.S. elementary curricula, Florida academic standards, homeschool education, or FLVS-style online coursework.
Performance Expectations
We expect the teacher to:
Deliver well-prepared, engaging, academically rigorous lessons.
Maintain progress against the official OVS/FLVS weekly schedule.
Ensure the student understands concepts before proceeding.
Support timely completion of coursework and assessments.
Identify and address learning gaps early.
Develop independent reading, writing, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
Provide honest progress reports and consistent communication.
Help the student work toward excellent grades through genuine mastery and independent effort.
Our goal is outstanding academic performance, deep understanding, and long-term educational success.
