Quality Manager | Supplier Quality & Product Quality | E-commerce
Confidential employer
At Olvy, we're looking for a hands-on, analytical and results-driven Quality Manager to take ownership of product quality across our supply chain.
We sell physical consumer products across European marketplaces, including Amazon and ---------- , and work with international manufacturers and suppliers.
As we continue to grow, we want to take our quality standards to the next level.
We're not looking for someone who simply checks inspection reports, forwards complaints to suppliers, or maintains spreadsheets.
We're looking for someone who digs deeper, identifies the real root cause, challenges suppliers and makes sure the same quality problem doesn't happen twice.
If you enjoy solving technical product problems, working with data and driving real improvements, this could be a great fit.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
1. SOLVE QUALITY PROBLEMS AT THE ROOT CAUSE
- Analyze product defects, customer complaints, returns and inspection failures.
- Identify recurring quality issues using data and root cause analysis.
- Lead Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) and 8D investigations.
- Work directly with suppliers to implement effective, long-term solutions.
- Verify that corrective actions actually work and prevent recurring defects.
Your job isn't finished when a supplier promises to fix a problem. It's finished when the problem is proven to be solved.
2. IMPROVE PRODUCT INSPECTIONS & QUALITY STANDARDS
- Define clear, measurable quality acceptance criteria.
- Classify defects as Critical, Major or Minor.
- Determine appropriate AQL levels and inspection requirements.
- Review pre-shipment inspection reports and evaluate shipment quality.
- Identify weaknesses in inspection procedures and improve them.
- Make quality-based shipment release recommendations and decisions within agreed procedures.
3. DRIVE SUPPLIER QUALITY IMPROVEMENTS
- Hold manufacturers accountable for product quality.
- Request, review and challenge supplier 8D reports and CAPAs.
- Monitor supplier quality performance and identify recurring issues.
- Coordinate supplier audits and follow up on improvement plans.
- Build strong, professional relationships with suppliers while maintaining high quality standards.
You'll work closely with manufacturers, including suppliers in China.
4. TURN QUALITY DATA INTO ACTION
We have access to valuable product quality information from multiple sources.
Your responsibility is to turn that information into meaningful improvements.
You'll work with data from platforms such as:
- Amazon and ----------
- Zendesk
- Airtable
- Excel
- Product inspections and supplier reports
You'll identify defect trends, recurring customer complaints, supplier performance issues and opportunities to reduce the cost of poor quality.
We value someone who can spot patterns, investigate problems and turn findings into concrete actions.
5. MANAGE PRODUCT COMPLIANCE
- Review product compliance documentation for European markets.
- Check relevant CE documentation, RoHS, EPR, SDS, food contact documents and test reports.
- Identify missing, incorrect or insufficient documentation.
- Support compliance checks for new products before purchasing approval.
- Ensure product quality and compliance requirements are properly documented.
6. BUILD BETTER QUALITY PROCESSES
We don't want unnecessary bureaucracy.
We want simple, effective processes that help us prevent problems and continuously improve.
You'll help develop and improve our quality management approach using methods such as:
- Root Cause Analysis
- CAPA and 8D
- AQL inspections
- Lean Six Sigma
- ISO 9001 principles
- Supplier quality scorecards
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 3 years of experience in Quality Management, Supplier Quality or Quality Engineering.
- Experience working with physical consumer products, preferably electronics, appliances or similar products.
- Proven experience conducting Root Cause Analysis and managing CAPAs.
- Hands-on experience with 8D or similar structured problem-solving methods.
- Experience working directly with manufacturers and suppliers.
- Familiarity with Chinese manufacturers or Asian production environments.
- Knowledge of AQL inspections and defect classification.
- Ability to translate product specifications into measurable inspection criteria.
- Strong analytical skills and advanced Excel capabilities.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- A proactive, independent and detail-oriented working style.
NICE TO HAVE
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
- ISO 9001 knowledge.
- Experience with EU product compliance requirements.
- Experience working with third-party inspection companies.
- Experience conducting supplier audits in China.
- Familiarity with Airtable.
- Mandarin language skills.
WHAT MAKES YOU SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE?
You don't accept "we will improve next time" as a sufficient supplier response.
You ask why a defect occurred, how it escaped detection, what will change in the production process and how the supplier will prove the solution works.
You are comfortable challenging suppliers, interpreting technical information, analyzing large datasets and taking ownership of problems.
You are practical, structured and persistent.
Most importantly, you care about preventing quality problems, not just reporting them.
WHAT WE OFFER
- A full-time, long-term remote opportunity with a growing European e-commerce company.
- Direct collaboration with our Operations and Supply Chain teams.
- Real ownership and the opportunity to shape our quality management processes.
- International exposure to European markets and Asian manufacturing.
- A role where your improvements have a direct impact on product quality and customer satisfaction.
- Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications.

2. A short introduction about your experience with supplier and product quality.
3. ONE REAL EXAMPLE of a recurring product quality problem you solved. Please explain:
