About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly articulate Medical Billing Specialist with at least 1 year of hands-on experience in US healthcare billing. Accounts Receivable & Follow-Up: Monitor claim status, conduct regular accounts receivable (A/R) follow-ups, and investigate unpaid, delayed, or rejected claims.
Denials & Appeals: Identify reasons for claim denials, perform root-cause analysis, gather necessary documentation, and draft/submit persuasive formal appeals.
Payer & Patient Communication: Contact US insurance representatives via telephone or online portals to clarify coverage details, resolve claim disputes, and clarify authorization issues.
Payment Posting & Reconciliation: Post insurance and patient payments, apply adjustments, and reconcile patient accounts accurately within the billing software.
Patient Inquiries: Handle professional, empathetic, and clear communication with patients regarding billing statements, outstanding balances, and payment arrangements.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience:
- Minimum of 1+ years of direct experience in US medical billing, A/R follow-up, or medical claims processing.
- English Proficiency: Exceptional verbal and written English skills (C1/C2 or fluent level). Must be confident making phone calls to US insurance companies and drafting clear, professional written appeals.
Technical Knowledge:
- Solid understanding of US healthcare insurance concepts (Deductibles, Co-pays, Co-insurance, EOBs, ERA, Out-of-Network benefits).
- Familiarity with standard medical coding systems (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) and billing guidelines.
- Experience working with EHR/EMR and Billing software (e.g., Kareo, Practice Fusion, AdvancedMD, ECW, or similar).
Skills:
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, high accuracy in data entry, and ability to manage workload during US Central Time business hours.
Technical / Equipment Requirements
- High-speed, reliable internet connection (25+ Mbps minimum) with a backup internet solution.
- Quiet, private, home-office environment compliant with HIPAA privacy guidelines.
- Modern computer setup (Core i5 / Ryzen 5 or higher, 8GB+ RAM) with a clear, noise-canceling headset for phone calls.
What We Offer
- Competitive hourly pay ($4.00 – $6.00/hr based on experience).
- Full-time hours with a stable long-term team.
- Supportive management and opportunities for skill expansion.
