About the Role

I own two established WordPress content sites, ---------- (fishing) and ---------- (recipes), and I’m hiring an intermediate SEO specialist to find what is holding back their Google rankings, fix the technical problems, and write clear SOPs. My full-time VA will handle the repetitive article updates using your SOPs, so I need someone who can diagnose problems, fix them, and explain them simply. You will report directly to me.

About the sites

---------- : about 400 expert-written fishing articles with a solid backlink profile. Organic traffic is low, and about half its pages show as “crawled, currently not indexed” in Search Console.
---------- : about 450 recipe articles, monetized with Mediavine. Most traffic comes from Pinterest, and I want to grow Google traffic carefully without putting current income at risk.

Phase 1, Months 1 to 2: AnglerWise

Technical SEO audit covering crawl, indexing, sitemaps, redirects, site speed and schema
Fix indexing problems, including no index rules for tag and attachment pages
Replace internal links that still point to an old redirected domain
Sort existing articles into four groups using Search Console data: quick win, refresh, consolidate or prune
Fully optimize 5 sample articles as examples: titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal links
Write a step-by-step SOP (Google Doc, Loom video welcome) so my VA can refresh the remaining articles

Phase 2, Month 3: StretchRecipes

Technical and on-page SEO audit
A prioritized list of fixes
Fully optimize 3 sample recipe articles as examples
An SOP for my VA to follow on the remaining recipes
No URL changes, no deleting or merging posts, and no changes to Mediavine ad settings without my written approval

After 3 months (if it is a good fit)

Continue at fewer hours: reviewing my VA’s work, checking Search Console, and setting next priorities

Requirements

At least 1 to 2 years of hands-on WordPress SEO experience, ideally on blogs or content sites
Comfortable with Rank Math, Google Search Console, GA4 and Screaming Frog (or similar)
Familiar with Google’s helpful content and core update guidelines
No AI-generated content, no link buying, no black-hat SEO
Keep a written log of every redirect, no index and deletion
Good written English and a short weekly update

How to apply

Start your application with the word “Trout” so I know you read the full post.
Share one or two websites you have improved, with before-and-after results if you have them.
In 3 to 5 sentences, explain how you would fix a site where about half the pages are “crawled, currently not indexed.”

Shortlisted applicants will complete a short paid test task ($20): reviewing 5 URLs and recommending changes.
