About the Role

YouTube Video Editor + Thumbnail Designer

We are looking for a reliable and efficient YouTube Video Editor to join our growing commentary channel.

This is a long-term position for someone who can edit consistently, follow an established style, communicate well, and handle a steady weekly production schedule.

Our channel focuses on commentary around viral internet stories, social trends, relationships, work/career topics, cost of living, and other relatable cultural discussions.

The editing style will not be overly complex or effects-heavy. We are looking for clean, engaging edits that keep the video moving and support the commentary.

Weekly Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Editing approximately 7–10 long-form YouTube videos per week
  • Editing approximately 7 YouTube Shorts per week
  • Adding relevant source clips, images, screenshots, headlines, captions, zooms, and simple visual elements where needed
  • Removing unnecessary pauses, mistakes, or dead space
  • Maintaining good pacing throughout the videos
  • Adding basic sound effects, music, or visual emphasis when appropriate
  • Creating clickable YouTube thumbnails
  • Uploading completed videos to our YouTube channel
  • Adding the provided titles, descriptions, and other publishing information
  • Making sure videos are properly formatted and ready for publishing
  • Organizing video files and keeping the production workflow up to date

Editing Style

The editing itself is relatively straightforward.

We are not looking for extremely complicated motion graphics, cinematic effects, or highly produced documentary-style editing.

The priority is:

  • Clean cuts
  • Good pacing
  • Relevant B-roll/source clips
  • Simple zooms and visual emphasis
  • On-screen text when useful
  • Keeping the viewer engaged without over-editing

Working With the Team

You will work closely with our Content Manager, who will help organize the content pipeline and provide the source material, video direction, commentary angles, and other information needed for each video.

Communication and reliability are extremely important.

As the channel grows, we want the editor and Content Manager to develop an efficient workflow together so videos can move smoothly from:

Research → Recording → Editing → Thumbnail → Upload

Requirements

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous YouTube video editing experience
  • Understands pacing and audience retention
  • Can edit both long-form videos and Shorts
  • Can create strong YouTube thumbnails
  • Is comfortable working with a high volume of weekly content
