Video Editor: YouTube, Instagram & Online Course Videos
Notes from Post is a growing education company that teaches independent filmmakers about post-production. We're looking for a talented, reliable video editor to join our small team and grow with us. This role will evolve over time, and we'd love to find someone for the long term.
What you'll be editing:
Long-form YouTube videos: educational and story-driven videos for filmmakers. You'll shape pacing, add b-roll, graphics, music, and sound design, and help make every minute worth watching.
Short-form videos for Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts: fast, engaging clips with strong hooks, captions, and a consistent brand style. Some will be cut from long-form videos, and some will be filmed on their own.
Teaching videos for our Skool community: clear, polished lessons that may include screen recordings of editing software, zoom-ins and callouts, on-screen text, and chapter titles. Clarity matters most here, so students can follow along easily.
How you'll work with us:
Our founder records all of her own videos, and you'll receive the raw footage along with notes on what each piece needs. You'll also work alongside our social media VA, who manages the posting calendar, so meeting deadlines and communicating clearly about your progress are very important.
Our founder is a professional editor herself with experience on major network and streaming projects, so you'll get detailed, specific feedback. We're looking for someone who welcomes notes and sees them as a chance to grow.
What we're looking for:
-Proven experience editing YouTube videos and short-form content
-Strong skills in Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve
-A great sense of pacing, rhythm, and storytelling
-Experience with captions, motion text, and basic graphics
-Experience editing tutorials, courses, or screen recordings is a big plus
-Good English communication skills
-A reliable computer and internet connection that can handle large video files
-A creative thinker who brings ideas to the table, such as hooks, edit styles, and trends worth trying
Nice to have:
-Thumbnail design
-Color correction and audio cleanup
-Motion graphics (After Effects or similar)
-Familiarity with the filmmaking or education niche
What we offer:
-Flexible scheduling: work during your normal business hours
-A weekly check-in to plan the week's edits (we're based in the US, but you'll very rarely need to be available outside your regular hours)
-Long-term work with a growing company
-Feedback and mentorship from an experienced professional editor
How to apply:
It's very important to us that you have positive feedback from previous clients. If possible, please include references from employers in English-speaking countries.
Please include links to your best work, ideally at least one long-form video and a few short-form edits. If you've edited any tutorials or course videos, please share those too.
Finalists will complete a short paid test edit.
