About the Role

Join our team – Full-Time Accountant for two UK businesses

We're looking for a sharp, reliable, full-time accountant based in the Philippines to look after the numbers for two London businesses:

  • Number 90, a canal-side bar, restaurant, nightclub and events venue in Hackney Wick, with club nights, promoters and corporate events every week.
  • Mainyard Studios, a creative workspace business with 600+ residents renting studios and desks.

Our UK accountancy firm handles filing, tax returns and statutory accounts. You won't file anything. Your job is to make sure our own numbers are right, every day: payments reconciled, invoices raised, money chased, and the firm's work checked before it reaches the directors.

Let's be honest about the role: a large part of it is hands-on bookkeeping. We want someone with accountant-level thinking doing it, because that's how it gets done properly and how mistakes get caught.

What you'll be doing
Mainyard Studios (about 50% of your time), working closely with Erica, our finance lead:

  • Collecting supplier invoices across all our sites every month, reconciling them and keeping supplier accounts correct
  • Monitoring supplier balances, credits and refunds, and following up overcharges
  • Reconciling resident payments, creating and sending invoices, and chasing late payments
  • Managing the finance inbox: answering team queries within 2 working days and flagging what needs Erica's attention
  • Submitting monthly meter readings (electricity, gas, water) across the sites
  • Taking on new invoicing and service-charge recording as we open two more buildings

Number 90 (about 40%):

  • Reconciling every club night and event: ticket sales, promoter deal, tech costs, PRS costs and the settlement invoice
  • Making sure tech and PRS costs are recharged to promoters at the right amount, with nothing missed
  • Checking supplier invoices against agreed rates and disputing overcharges
  • Checking the journals our accountancy firm posts: right account, right company, right period
  • Reviewing management reports and getting mistakes corrected

Both companies (about 10%):

  • Building and improving trackers, checklists and month-end routines
  • Helping prepare and maintain budgets, and reporting budget vs actual each month
  • Writing your own training manual as you learn, so every process is documented

Who we're looking for
You'll be a great fit if you have:

  • A degree in Accountancy. CPA or audit experience is a strong advantage.
  • 3+ years of hands-on accounting or bookkeeping, ideally for UK clients
  • Daily, practical Xero experience: bank reconciliation, invoices, bills, journals, tracking categories, reports
  • A working understanding of UK VAT and payroll journals (UK rules are different from the US and Australia). If your experience is mainly non-UK, tell us what you know about UK VAT.
  • Strong spreadsheet skills
  • The habit of asking "does this number make sense?" and following it up without being told
  • Excellent written English, and confidence chasing payments politely but firmly
  • A wish for a stable, long-term role

A Xero Advisor certification is a plus. Please include the certificate.

Working hours
This is a full-time position: 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday. You don't have to work 8 hours straight, and you don't have to match our hours exactly. You do need to be online for at least 4 hours a day overlapping UK business hours, so you can work with Erica, Jane and the team in real time. We're looking for someone who can commit to this consistently and long-term.

Why join us?
We already work with several team members in the Philippines, some of whom have been with us for more than three years. We want you to become a genuine member of the team, not someone completing tasks remotely.

Salary & benefits
Base salary: $1,000 USD per month
You'll also receive:

  • 13th-month pay, paid in December and pro-rated during your first year
  • 20 days of paid holiday per year, inclusive of Philippine public holidays
  • Up to 5 paid sick days per year

After 3 months' probation:

  • Company-funded health insurance
  • A quarterly recovery bonus of up to 75% of a month's salary, based on money you recover that we would otherwise have lost: supplier overcharges credited back, costs never recharged, and old unpaid debts you collect.

If you find us money, you share in it.

About TimeProof: working remotely works well when there's trust on both sides, and that needs a clear record of the hours. We use TimeProof, OnlineJobs.ph's time tracker, for all working hours. It's not there to spy on you. It also shows us how much time each task really takes, so we can fix slow processes and give you better tools where needed. You can split your day the way that suits you, as long as you cover the UK overlap. What matters to us is that the hours are done, and that when you're working for us, you're focused on us. If you're not comfortable working with TimeProof, please don't apply.

And one final detail so we know you've read the whole advert: finish your application email with the words:
