About the Role

Project Type: Freelance / Fixed-Price Contract
Timeline: 2–3 Weeks
Location: Remote (Philippines Preferred)

About the Project

We are Safe Ride Foundation, a U.S.-based nonprofit organization that provides safe and reliable transportation services.

We recently launched a new mobile application called SOS Safe Ride, built using Flutter and available on iOS, Android, and web.

The app is already fully functional, but its current appearance is relatively generic. We are looking for an experienced UI Designer to give the application a professional, modern, and distinctive visual identity that better represents our brand.

This is a visual redesign, NOT a complete UX overhaul or app development project. We want to maintain the existing functionality and general layout while significantly improving the overall look and feel.

Scope of Work

The designer will be responsible for creating a comprehensive, cohesive visual theme for our existing mobile application.

This includes:

Color Palette: Develop a consistent color system incorporating our existing brand identity.

Buttons & Components: Design custom buttons, input fields, cards, menus, navigation bars, toggles, and other interface elements.

Icons: Design or select a consistent icon set that complements the new theme.

Backgrounds & Visual Elements: Create custom backgrounds, gradients, shapes, illustrations, and other decorative elements where appropriate.

Typography: Establish consistent fonts, text sizes, weights, and hierarchies.

Screen Designs: Apply the new theme across the application's existing screens.

Design System: Build a reusable, cascading design system in Figma so that visual elements remain consistent throughout the application.

Responsive Design: Ensure the designs are suitable for mobile devices and applicable web interfaces.

Our application includes interfaces for passengers, drivers, dispatchers, and administrators.

We anticipate approximately 20–30 unique screen designs, subject to an agreed screen inventory before work begins.

Deliverables

Upon completion, we expect:

A complete, editable Figma project containing all approved screen designs.

A reusable component library and design system with defined colors, typography, buttons, icons, and other UI elements.

All necessary visual assets exported in appropriate formats (SVG, PNG, etc.).

Documentation sufficient for our Flutter development team to implement the new theme.

Two rounds of revisions based on our feedback.

All final custom designs and assets will become the property of Safe Ride Foundation. Any third-party assets must be properly licensed for commercial use.

Required Skills

Strong proficiency in Figma, including components, variants, and design variables.

Proven experience designing mobile application interfaces for iOS and Android.

Strong understanding of visual hierarchy, typography, color theory, and mobile design principles.

Experience creating reusable design systems rather than independently styling every screen.

Ability to work within an existing application structure and established brand identity.

Understanding of how to prepare designs for developer implementation.

Bonus Qualifications:

Experience designing interfaces for Flutter applications.

Familiarity with Flutter's Material Design and theming architecture.

Experience with transportation, booking, delivery, or location-based applications.

Experience preparing UI designs for responsive web applications.

Project Workflow

Phase 1: Discovery & Visual Direction

Review our current app, branding, and existing screens. Propose a visual direction and redesign 3–5 representative screens for our approval.

Phase 2: Full UI Design

Once the visual direction is approved, create the reusable component library and apply the new theme across the agreed application screens.

Phase 3: Finalization & Developer Handoff

Complete revisions, organize the Figma project, export assets, and provide documentation to our development team.

Our existing developers will handle all implementation and coding. You are not expected to write Flutter code.

How to Apply

Please submit:

Your portfolio showing previous mobile app UI projects (Figma links preferred).

Examples of design systems or component libraries you have created.

Your experience working with Flutter developers, if applicable.

Confirmation that you can complete the project within our $800 fixed budget and 2–3 week timeline.

Important: We are looking for someone with demonstrated mobile application UI design experience, not simply a graphic designer who creates logos, marketing materials, or social media graphics.

Our goal is to give an already-functioning app a polished, recognizable visual identity that can be implemented efficiently by our development team.
