About PyQuant
PyQuant is a financial research platform that helps individual investors evaluate public companies through fundamental financial analysis and financial statement breakdown. We focus on reported financials, long-term trends, and clear, explainable metric. No market hype or pricing involved.
We're looking for a detail-oriented researcher who understands company financials and can turn that research into useful, engaging content for retail investors, organically growing our audience.
The Role
This is a finance-first research and content role - not a social media scheduling or marketing analytics position. You will:
- Investigate public companies and verify financial claims against primary sources (yahoo finance, reuters, morning star, google finance, bloomberg, etc.)
- Turn your findings into accessible content for retail investors
- Help identify investor communities, creators, and organic channels to reach people interested in fundamental investing
What We're Looking For
1. Financial Statement Analysis:
- Comfortable reading income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Able to interpret revenue growth, profit margins, earnings, debt, liquidity, cash generation, and valuation metrics
- Has identified financial statement trends YoY and QoQ using Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR)
- Can identify meaningful multi-year financial trends and explain why a metric matters (and its limitations)
2. SEC Filing Research
- Experience researching companies via 10-Ks, 10-Qs, earnings releases, and investor relations materials
- Able to locate and verify figures against original sources
- Understands reporting periods, accounting terminology, and accurate citations
3. Financial Writing & Content Development
- Strong written English; can explain complex financial concepts clearly to a retail audience
- Can turn research into company breakdowns, metric explainers, comparisons, social posts, and article outlines
- Distinguishes reported facts from interpretation and opinion
4. Organic Marketing & Audience Research
- Interested in value/fundamental investing and the retail investor community
- Can research relevant forums, newsletters, creators, and content platforms (Reddit, LinkedIn, Instagram, Threads)
- Able to track engagement, referral traffic, and signups where measurable
Preferred Background
Especially value candidates with education/experience in:
- Finance, accounting, equity research, or investment research
- Financial journalism or writing about public companies
- Financial modeling, spreadsheet analysis, or company valuation
- SEO, content strategy, or social media marketing
- Experience with SEC EDGAR, spreadsheets, Canva, and scheduling tools is a plus, but financial research ability and writing quality matter more than any specific tool.
How to Apply
Please include:
- A brief introduction with your relevant experience and resume
- Your background in finance, accounting, research, or writing
- A writing sample (and an example of financial analysis, if available)
- A short explanation of how you'd research a public company using its latest annual report
Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a paid financial research and writing exercise.
