About the Role

JOB TITLE: Photo Editor (Social Media Content)

Focus: Photo Editing, Retouching, and Color Grading
Platforms: Instagram (Stories & Feed Posts) and Facebook

ABOUT THE COMPANY

We are a small production company currently preparing for our content launch, with publishing expected to begin in early December 2026.

As we build our production workflow and creative team, we're looking for a dedicated Photo Editor who can contribute to the visual quality and consistency of our content. This is an opportunity to become part of a growing team and establish a long-term working relationship as our production develops.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Photo Editor with a strong eye for composition, color, and visual aesthetics. The ideal candidate knows how to transform photos into polished, professional, and visually appealing content while maintaining a natural and authentic look.

We're looking for someone who understands that great photo editing isn't always about dramatic changes. It's about knowing how to make subtle yet impactful adjustments that elevate an image without making it look overly edited.

This role is strictly focused on photo editing, NOT graphic design. The primary responsibility is to enhance existing photographs for social media use, particularly Instagram Stories, Instagram feed posts, and Facebook content.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Edit, enhance, and retouch photographs to achieve a clean, polished, and professional aesthetic.
  • Apply thoughtful color grading and color correction to create visually cohesive imagery.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of composition, framing, lighting, contrast, and visual balance.
  • Make subtle but effective adjustments that elevate an image while preserving its natural appearance.
  • Crop and optimize images for Instagram Stories, Instagram feed posts, and Facebook .
  • Maintain consistent editing quality and visual style across multiple images and content batches.
  • Collaborate closely with the creative team and supervisors to ensure edits align with the intended visual direction.
  • Incorporate feedback and execute revisions accurately and efficiently.
  • Organize and deliver final edited images according to project requirements and deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Proven experience in professional photo editing, retouching, and color grading.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop, or equivalent professional photo editing software.
  • Excellent understanding of color theory, tones, exposure, highlights, shadows, and skin tones.
  • A strong sense of visual composition and attention to small details.
  • Ability to achieve natural-looking, refined, and high-end edits without excessive filters or overprocessing.
  • Familiarity with image dimensions, aspect ratios, and export requirements for Instagram and Facebook .
  • Ability to adapt editing styles based on creative direction, references, and brand aesthetics.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.

TEAMWORK & PROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE

We value someone who is not only technically skilled but also professional, collaborative, and receptive to feedback.

The ideal candidate should:

  • Be open to constructive criticism and understand that revisions are a natural part of the creative process.
  • Take direction well from supervisors, creative leads, and other team members.
  • Accept feedback professionally without becoming defensive or overly attached to their initial edits.
  • Communicate clearly, ask relevant questions, and provide updates when needed.
  • Be flexible and willing to refine edits until they meet the team's creative standards.
  • Demonstrate reliability, accountability, and a positive attitude toward collaboration.

PORTFOLIO REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must submit a portfolio showcasing:

  • Before-and-after photo editing samples.
  • Examples of professional color grading and color correction.
  • Images demonstrating strong composition, lighting adjustments, and natural retouching.
  • Social media-ready photography, preferably for Instagram and Facebook .

We are particularly interested in editors who can make a photograph look noticeably better without making the editing itself the center of attention.

IMPORTANT NOTE

This is NOT a Graphic Designer position.

We are not looking for someone to create layouts, typography, promotional materials, or graphic elements. We are looking for a dedicated Photo Editor whose strength lies in enhancing the quality, mood, composition, and overall visual impact of photographs.

Our ideal editing style is subtle, intentional, polished, and professional, where every adjustment serves a purpose and the final image speaks for itself.

COMPENSATION & WORK ARRANGEMENT

  • Rate: $60 USD per week (fixed retainer)
  • Work Setup: Remote, Part-Time, Flexible Schedule
  • Workload: Light and project-based, depending on content production needs

This is a retainer-based position with a relatively light and flexible workload. The Photo Editor will work as part of an existing production team, alongside a Producer/Manager, Video Editor, and Social Media Manager.

Since the majority of production and content management responsibilities are handled by other team members, this role is focused exclusively on photo editing, retouching, and color grading.

Editing requests will depend on the availability of new content. There may be days or even weeks when little to no editing work is required.

The weekly retainer will remain consistent during these quieter periods, as the role is intended to maintain an ongoing working relationship with a reliable Photo Editor.

We are looking for someone who can accommodate occasional editing requests, communicate effectively with the team, and deliver polished results within agreed deadlines.

Any significant increase in workload or responsibilities will be discussed separately.
