Game Playtester (Windows PC) — Educational Coding Game — Recorded Think-Aloud Sessions, Part-Time Gig

We are Ironline Games, a small US indie studio. We are hiring four part-time playtesters for our educational adventure game White Hat Academy, which teaches complete beginners to code through story missions with a built-in terminal.

This is a gig, not full-time work: roughly 4–6 paid hours per tester over about two weeks, on your own schedule, with the possibility of repeat work on future builds for testers who do great work.

What you will do:
1. Complete a short paid screening exercise ($10 flat, about 60–90 minutes) — details below.
2. Play the game on your Windows PC while recording your screen and your voice (you will talk out loud about what you're thinking as you play — this is called think-aloud testing, and it is the whole point of the job).
3. Fill out a feedback form after each session and report any bugs you find, using our simple template.

Requirements — please read all of them:

• A Windows 10 or 11 PC and a microphone (headset is fine). Sessions are recorded with free software (we'll tell you exactly what to use).
• You must NOT know how to code. We are specifically looking for beginners for three of the four slots — if you are a programmer, this gig is not for you (that's a compliment, not an insult). One slot is for someone with game QA or software testing experience; say which slot you are applying for.
• Strong spoken and written English — you will be narrating your thoughts and writing feedback in English.
• Reliable internet (recordings are large files you'll upload after each session).
• Bonus (tell us if it applies): you own an iPhone (any model running a current iOS). iPhone owners may get extra paid sessions testing our iOS build. If you have one, include the model and iOS version in your application.
• OnlineJobs ID Proof score of 80 or higher.

Pay: $5/hour for playtester slots, $7/hour for the QA slot (screening exercise paid separately at $10 flat, whether or not you are hired for sessions). Paid via Wise within 48 hours of each accepted delivery.

How to apply — follow these steps exactly (applications that skip a step will not be read):
1. Start your application with the word HAT so we know you read the whole post.
2. Tell us: (a) which slot you're applying for (Beginner or QA); (b) your PC specs (Windows version, CPU, RAM); (c) whether you own an iPhone, and if so the model + iOS version; (d) two or three games you've played recently; (e) for the QA slot only: one example of testing work you've done.
3. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to the paid screening exercise. You will never be asked to pay anything, buy anything, or install anything suspicious — the screening uses a video we provide and a writing task.
