Job description
ABOUT US
TA Project Services is a multi-disciplinary consultancy on the far south coast of New South Wales, Australia. We deliver civil engineering, land surveying, town planning, environmental services and project management, mostly residential and rural subdivisions and small-to-mid regional developments. Our values are Efficiency, Integrity, Continuous Improvement, Open Communication and Reliability. Our mission is simple: Together Achieve.
We already work with a Philippines-based civil engineer as part of our design team, and we’re adding a second engineer to the same model.
THE WORK
Stormwater design for subdivisions and developments: pit and pipe networks, overland flow, on-site detention and water quality
Water supply and sewer reticulation design for subdivisions, including layouts, long sections and calculations
Subdivision road, grading and drainage design in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Civil Site Design, from concept through to detailed design
Design calculations, design statements and design reports, and responses to council comments
Quantities and cost estimates for civil designs, using our estimating template
Working directly with our Australian project managers, surveyors and senior engineers through Asana, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint

WHAT WE NEED
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
At least 3 years’ civil design experience, ideally in subdivision and land development
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
Demonstrated stormwater drainage design experience
Demonstrated water and/or sewer reticulation design experience
Strong written and spoken English. You’ll deal directly with our team, not through a middle manager
Reliable and self-managing, comfortable working remotely with limited supervision
Careful with your own work, and willing to say when something doesn’t add up

HIGHLY REGARDED
DRAINS (stormwater modelling)
Experience on Australian projects
Familiarity with Australian Rainfall and Runoff (ARR 2019), WSA water and sewerage codes, Austroads and Australian Standards
Civil Site Design (we provide the licence) or MUSIC
Experience preparing quantity take-offs and cost estimates for civil works

WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT
You won’t be the engineer of record and you won’t certify designs. All designs are reviewed and signed off by our Australian engineers before issue. You prepare the design; we review and certify it.

THE ARRANGEMENT
Independent contractor, fully remote
Part time, 20 hours a week
Three-month initial engagement, reviewed and extended on performance
Paid weekly
You’ll need your own computer, a reliable internet connection and a licensed copy of AutoCAD Civil 3D. We provide the Civil Site Design licence.

TO APPLY
Send your CV, two or three design samples (a stormwater network, DRAINS output, or a sewer or water long section is ideal), and a short note about a design problem you caught or solved before it became expensive. Start your message with the word “DRAINS” so we know you’ve read the ad.
Shortlisted applicants will complete a short paid test: a small stormwater and sewer design check, with one error planted for you to find.
