Podcast and Video Editor + Shorts Producer, Contemplative Podcast (Part Time, Long Term)
Confidential employer
About the show
House of Belonging with Laura Thomas is a new weekly podcast launching on 16 November 2026. Short, quiet episodes about the ordinary moments when a person comes home to herself. It is contemplative and gently Zen in spirit, never preachy and never salesy. Laura records on camera in her own room, so every episode goes out as audio, as a full YouTube video, and as short vertical clips.
We are looking for one editor to own the weekly production: the episode, the video, and the clips that bring new listeners to the show. This is a long-term role for the right person.
What you will do each week
1. Assemble each episode in Descript from Riverside's separate audio and video tracks: Studio Sound, filler and false starts removed, intro and outro music, chapter markers, and a clean export. This is a slow show. Natural pauses are part of it and stay in.
2. Edit the full episode video for YouTube, cutting between two camera angles.
3. Cut four vertical Shorts or Reels (30 to 90 seconds) from that week's recording, with captions checked word for word against what Laura actually says.
4. Draft six Substack Notes from Laura's published essays, in her voice, for her approval.
5. Make three Instagram posts in Canva from our templates: a carousel, a quote card and a photo post.
6. Research 12 to 15 podcasts a week that could host Laura as a guest, and add each one to our spreadsheet with its audience size, how you know that, how the show books guests, and a contact link.
7. There are three episode types: solo episodes of about 20 minutes, conversations with Laura's teacher, and interviews.
Turnaround is 48 hours from raw files to finished episode and clips. Notes are drafted the same day they are requested.
What you need
1. At least two years of podcast editing, with links to episodes you edited
2. Strong Descript skills, including multitrack and video editing
3. A portfolio of vertical short-form clips with clean, accurate captions
4. Excellent written English, because you will draft text in someone else's voice
5. Canva, Google Drive and Google Sheets
6. Reliable internet and a backup plan for power or connection outages
7. Comfort with detailed feedback in the first month, while you learn how the show should sound
Nice to have
1. Experience with Riverside
2. An interest in meditation, mindfulness, poetry or contemplative writing
3. Experience growing a YouTube Shorts channel
