About the Company

Michael Hicks Publishing is an independent publishing company developing DARK MEDICINE, a fiction brand specializing in psychological, institutional, medical, and supernatural thrillers by author D. L. Halden.

We are expanding our presence on YouTube, Facebook , and Instagram and seeking a reliable, creative virtual assistant to handle daily publishing tasks, video uploads, social media scheduling, and content organization.

Our books, cinematic promotional videos, and marketing materials are primarily developed in-house. We need someone who can efficiently prepare, publish, and manage that content.

Responsibilities

• Upload and schedule YouTube Shorts, Facebook Reels, and Instagram Reels.
• Create and publish image posts and Instagram carousels.
• Resize, crop, and format images and videos for each social media platform.
• Perform basic video editing, including transitions, music, titles, and cover reveals.
• Add supplied captions, hashtags, descriptions, and landing-page links.
• Maintain a consistent posting schedule across all three platforms.
• Check published posts for cropping, formatting, audio, and link errors.
• Organize promotional content for upcoming book releases.
• Provide a brief weekly report covering views, engagement, and follower growth.
• Communicate clearly with the publisher and obtain approval before publishing.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience using Meta Business Suite, Facebook , Instagram, and YouTube Studio.
• Experience publishing Reels, Shorts, and multi-image carousel posts.
• Basic video editing skills using CapCut, Canva, or similar software.
• Ability to prepare content in vertical 9:16 and portrait 4:5 formats.
• Strong written English and attention to detail.
• Reliable internet connection and consistent communication.
• Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines.

Experience working with authors, book publishers, or entertainment brands is a plus.

Compensation and Schedule

Starting compensation is $6–$8 USD per hour, depending on experience.

We will begin with a two-week paid trial and approximately 10 hours of work per month, with the possibility of increasing hours as the publishing business expands.

This is intended to become an ongoing working relationship.
