About the Role

PLEASE READ ALL REQUIREMENTS BEFORE APPLYING

We're looking for one experienced, dependable editor who wants to grow into a larger creative production role over the next 1–2 years, ideally much longer.

This position starts with straightforward audio editing, but that's only the first stage. Our goal is to gradually transfer more of the production process to someone who demonstrates excellent judgment, consistency, and independence.

Our current production budget reaches $1,000/month for broader responsibilities, with the possibility of substantially higher compensation as we grow. However, we don't expect to hand over everything immediately, regardless of experience.

Our compensation structure rewards increasing independence and progressively reduces the need for our involvement over a realistic time. We're investing in a long-term working relationship, not simply hiring someone to complete isolated tasks.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

  • English: C2 (Mastery) or native/bilingual proficiency. Excellent comprehension of conversational English, humor, and nuance. Supporting evidence required.
  • Experience: Verifiable podcast or spoken-audio editing experience, including precise dialogue cuts, crossfades, and natural-sounding transitions.
  • Software: Experience with DaVinci Resolve or comparable professional editing software. CapCut-only experience does not qualify. All assignments will use DaVinci Resolve.
  • Reliability: Proven history of meeting deadlines, communicating consistently, and maintaining long-term client relationships.

This is NOT an entry-level position. Applicants must demonstrate relevant professional experience.

OUR CONTENT & CREATIVE DIRECTION

Our videos explore astrology, tarot, spirituality, energy work, sound healing, and other esoteric or pseudoscientific subjects.
Your personal relationship with these topics matters to us and this application.

Eventually, you'll need to understand the concepts well enough to identify opportunities for humor, visual storytelling, and creative emphasis. That requires more than simply following editing instructions.

We're looking for someone who genuinely respects and finds value in the material, not someone willing to tolerate it for a paycheck. Over time, a lack of respect for the subject matter can develop into frustration or disengagement, affecting both creative quality and the working relationship.

We want to understand how you personally feel about these subjects because your long-term interest and motivation are important to the success of this role.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

STARTING WORK & DEADLINES (Initial responsibilities are AUDIO ONLY):

Assignments typically include 1–2 videos weekly, averaging 20–30 minutes each. Volume and video length vary, and no minimum number of assignments is guaranteed.

  • Removing filler words, mistakes, and unnecessary pauses
  • Cleaning distracting breaths and awkward transitions
  • Using precise cuts and crossfades to preserve natural speech

No visual editing is required at this stage.

You'll receive detailed instructional materials, examples, and project specifications. Training focuses on learning our established workflow, not basic editing fundamentals.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

TURNAROUND REQUIREMENTS

  • 1 video: Within 24 hours
  • 2 videos: Within 48 hours

Assignments are communicated in advance, generally midweek. You will never be expected to do a 24 hour return out of nowhere. Deadlines begin upon receiving complete project materials.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

COMPENSATION & QUALITY STANDARDS

Paid trial: $20 for one 20–30-minute video.
Following a successful trial, audio-only assignments are paid according to the accuracy of the original submission:

  • 0–4 revision notes: $40/video
  • 5–20 revision notes: $30/video
  • 21+ revision notes: $20/video

These rates apply only to the initial audio-cleanup responsibilities.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

ASSIGNMENT & PAYMENT PROCESS

1. Submit: Review your work before delivery and invoice for the $20 base payment.
2. Review: We evaluate your original submission within 2–4 calendar days and identify errors against our instructions.
3. Learn: You'll receive your submitted version alongside our finalized edit. Study the differences and email a brief summary of what you learned and what you'll apply going forward.
4. Final Payment: Invoice for any remaining quality bonus after completing your review acknowledgment.

Revision notes count editing errors or missed documented requirements, not new creative requests.

LATE DELIVERY DEDUCTIONS (BONUSES ONLY)

  • Up to 5 hours late: $5 deduction
  • More than 5–12 hours late: $10 deduction
  • More than 12–24 hours late: $15 deduction
  • Over 24 hours late: No bonus; $20 base only

Deductions never reduce the guaranteed base payment.

Consistent improvement is expected. Repeated mistakes, missed deadlines, or failure to apply previous feedback may result in ending the working relationship.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

LONG-TERM CREATIVE GROWTH

Once you consistently produce accurate audio edits with minimal supervision, we'll begin expanding your responsibilities.
The next stage involves adding simple creative enhancements to videos that are otherwise already assembled:

  • Sound effects, GIFs, text, and humor
  • Simple animations and visual callouts
  • Small creative additions that strengthen the message or improve audience understanding

You won't initially be expected to invent entire concepts or produce complex videos from scratch. The technical tasks themselves are relatively straightforward. The difficult part is developing the judgment to know WHERE an element belongs, WHY it adds something, and WHEN it's better to leave something alone.

Our editing style is specific. Even experienced editors will need time to study it, understand our humor and storytelling, and develop that judgment through feedback.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

EARNING POTENTIAL - NOW

Stage 1 — Audio editing
$20–$40 per video, based on accuracy.

Stage 2 — Audio + creative enhancements
Up to $75 per video, or $150 for a two-video assignment, with consistently excellent work and minimal revisions.

Stage 3 — Expanded production responsibilities
Up to $250 per weekly assignment, potentially including thumbnail/cover art, Shorts, scriptwriting, and other creative tasks.

Much of this work is already templated. The focus is on adding finishing details, creative enhancements, and independent judgment rather than developing every project from scratch.

Our current maximum budget is approximately $1,000 over four weeks when the workload and responsibilities justify it. Compensation remains assignment-based, not a guaranteed monthly retainer.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

FUTURE EARNINGS ($2 - 3,000 per month)

Based on our current revenue growth, we believe the production budget could eventually support $2,000–$3,000 per month over the next few years, provided the workload, business growth, and responsibilities justify it. This is a possibility, not guaranteed compensation.

Rather than hiring five different people, we'd prefer to develop one versatile, reliable editor who can gradually take ownership of more of the production process. That requires patience, continuous learning, and mutual trust. In return, we're willing to invest substantially in someone who proves they can take on increasing responsibilities.

We also want compensation to remain an open conversation. As responsibilities expand, new rates will be discussed and agreed upon before additional work is assigned.

We're looking for someone confident enough to communicate directly, raise concerns early, and work through difficult situations rather than avoid them. We value people who can propose solutions, negotiate reasonable compromises, and approach problems constructively.

TO APPLY — ANSWER ALL FIVE QUESTIONS

1. RELIABILITY
Provide verifiable examples of recurring client work, including the duration of those relationships and your delivery history. How would your current workload allow you to consistently meet our 24–48-hour deadlines over the next 1–2 years or longer? What genuinely interests you about building a long-term working relationship?

2. ENGLISH
Confirm your C2 or native/bilingual proficiency and provide evidence supporting your level of comprehension.

3. EXPERIENCE
Share examples of podcast or spoken-audio editing you've personally completed. Explain your responsibilities, software used, and what specific editing work you performed.

4. CONTENT COMPATIBILITY
What is your personal experience with astrology, tarot, spirituality, energy work, sound healing, or similar subjects? How do you honestly feel about these topics, and could you see yourself enjoying creative work involving them for several years?

We're interested in your actual perspective, including reservations. We'd rather discover an incompatibility now than after both sides have invested substantial time and effort.

5. PROBLEM-SOLVING
Describe a real situation where a client relationship, assignment, or workload became difficult or overwhelming and you had to fix it independently. What happened, how did you handle it, and what was the outcome? We're particularly interested in how you communicate and solve problems when things don't go according to plan or expectation.
