Remote Bookkeeper / Accountant, Indonesian Tax Compliance
Confidential employer
Bali Eco Stay, a hospitality and lifestyle group in Bali | Full-time, Remote (Philippines-based) |
About us
We run a group of hospitality businesses in Bali: an eco-stay with a restaurant, wellness center, stables, and retail brand, plus related ventures. We’re growing, and we need someone to own our numbers so our leadership team can make faster, better decisions.
Who we’re looking for
This isn’t a data-entry role. We want someone who keeps everything compliant and clean and thinks beyond the checklist. You’ll spot where money is leaking, suggest better systems, flag risks before they become problems, and tell us what the numbers actually mean. You follow the rules exactly, and you’re creative about how to do things better within them.
What you’ll do
Own day-to-day bookkeeping across multiple business units (accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, accruals)
Run the month-end close and deliver a monthly reporting pack by a fixed date: P&L by business unit, balance sheet, cash flow, and key notes
Prepare monthly and annual Indonesian tax obligations: VAT (PPN), withholding taxes (PPh 21, 23, 4(2)), regional hotel/restaurant tax, and annual corporate returns. Coordinate with our local tax consultant as needed
Track filing deadlines and keep a compliance calendar so nothing is ever late
Manage payroll records and staff tax calculations
Build and improve our financial processes: chart of accounts, approval flows, expense controls
Proactively recommend cost savings, pricing insights, and cash-flow improvements
Must-haves
4+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience, including full month-end close ownership
Hands-on experience with Indonesian taxation (PPN, PPh, Coretax/e-Faktur), or demonstrable ability to learn it quickly with proof of a similar foreign-tax ramp-up
Strong accounting software skills (Xero, QuickBooks, Jurnal, Accurate, or similar) and advanced Excel/Google Sheets
Excellent written and spoken English
Ability to work at least 40 hours a week
Strong pluses
Philippine CPA
Hospitality, F&B, or multi-entity experience
Working knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia, enough to read invoices and tax documents
Experience setting up systems from scratch for a growing business
How to apply
Send your CV, your expected monthly rate, and a short note (max 150 words) describing one time you improved a financial process beyond what was asked. Include the word “Batukaru” in your subject line so we know you read this.
