GMDC Inc. – AVIATION DIVISION
AVIATION SALES SUPPORT & RFQ RESEARCH SPECIALIST
Location: Remote – Philippines
Engagement: Independent Contractor
Workload: Full-Time | Long-Term Opportunity
Compensation: Based on Experience and Qualifications
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
GMDC Inc., a US-based aviation parts trading company, is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented and commercially minded professional based in the Philippines to provide remote aviation sales support and RFQ research services.
The primary responsibility is to screen and evaluate incoming aircraft parts and tooling Requests for Quotation (RFQs) received through GMDC's subscribed aviation trading platforms, identify genuine business opportunities, and forward only those enquiries that warrant further attention to our Sales team.
All incoming RFQs from these platforms will be routed to the successful candidate for initial assessment.
The objective is to help our Sales team focus its time and resources on credible, commercially worthwhile opportunities rather than responding indiscriminately to every enquiry.
This is an aviation research, customer qualification and sales-operations support position. It is not a cold-calling, commission-based sales or direct selling role.
The successful candidate should possess a good understanding of the aviation aftermarket, strong investigative skills and the commercial judgement to distinguish credible purchasing opportunities from speculative, repetitive or low-value enquiries.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. RFQ Screening and Opportunity Qualification
- Review incoming RFQs received through GMDC's subscribed aviation trading platforms, including ILSmart, PartsBase and StockMarket.
- Conduct an initial assessment of each RFQ to determine whether it represents a credible and potentially worthwhile sales opportunity.
- Research the requesting company to establish its business activities, market position, credibility and likely purchasing requirements.
- Distinguish between airlines, aircraft operators, MROs, aircraft parts distributors, brokers and other aviation-related businesses.
- Assess the relevance of the requested aircraft parts or tooling, the customer's business activities, apparent purchasing potential and any previous dealings with GMDC.
- Identify speculative, repetitive, questionable or otherwise low-priority enquiries that do not justify further Sales attention.
- Forward only qualified RFQs with commercial merit to GMDC's Sales team, accompanied by a concise explanation of why the opportunity should be pursued.
- Ensure that potentially valuable enquiries are not overlooked, while minimising unnecessary referrals.
2. Company Research and Due Diligence
- Investigate unfamiliar companies using aviation industry databases, company websites, public business records and other reliable research sources.
- Verify company identities, business activities and relevant aviation industry credentials where possible.
- Determine whether an RFQ sender is likely to be an actual end user, an established intermediary or a speculative broker.
- Identify inconsistencies, questionable information or potential commercial risks.
- Use approved AI-assisted research tools where helpful, while independently verifying important findings rather than relying solely on AI-generated information.
3. Systems, Records and Reporting
- Use GMDC's Quantum system to review relevant customer information, previous activity and RFQ history.
- Maintain accurate customer and opportunity records, including concise supporting research notes.
- Document RFQ assessments and qualification decisions in an organised and consistent manner.
- Prepare clear, actionable summaries for the Sales team, identifying the customer, relevant findings, reason for referral and any matters requiring further verification.
- Track outstanding research items and provide periodic updates on RFQ screening activity.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with GMDC's data-handling and information-security procedures.
4. Additional Sales Support
- Undertake related aviation market research, company investigations and sales-operations support within the agreed scope.
- Assist in identifying potentially valuable customer relationships and business opportunities arising from incoming RFQs.
- Support the Sales team with additional background research when requested.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience in aviation or aerospace parts trading, airline materials departments, MRO operations, aircraft component distribution or a closely related industry.
- Good understanding of the commercial aviation aftermarket and the different roles of aircraft operators, MROs, distributors and brokers.
- Strong online research and analytical skills, including the ability to verify information from multiple sources.
- Sound commercial judgement and the ability to distinguish promising sales opportunities from enquiries unlikely to result in business.
- Excellent written English, particularly the ability to communicate findings clearly, accurately and concisely.
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and the ability to work independently while managing multiple enquiries.
- Reliable computer equipment, secure internet connectivity and consistent communication availability.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:
- ILSmart, PartsBase, StockMarket or similar aviation trading platforms.
- Quantum Control or other aviation ERP, inventory management or CRM systems.
- Aircraft part-number research and aviation inventory terminology.
- Customer qualification, company due diligence and aviation market research.
- Microsoft Excel and responsible use of AI-assisted research tools.
Previous experience with every platform is not required. GMDC will provide initial training to familiarise the successful candidate with its subscribed platforms, RFQ screening procedures and Quantum system.
TRAINING AND INITIAL SUPPORT
GMDC will provide initial guidance and practical training covering:
- Accessing and reviewing RFQs through the company's subscribed aviation platforms.
- Understanding GMDC's criteria for evaluating and prioritising incoming enquiries.
- Researching prospective customers and documenting findings.
- Using Quantum to review customer information and maintain relevant records.
- Preparing qualified RFQ referrals and supporting summaries for the Sales team.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop increasing independence, accuracy and efficiency as they become familiar with GMDC's systems and procedures.
ENGAGEMENT ARRANGEMENTS
- Location: Remote – Philippines.
- Engagement: Independent contractor under a mutually agreed services agreement.
- Workload: Full-time service capacity, approximately 40 hours per week, with an agreed schedule and reasonable overlap with US Eastern Time for communication and coordination.
- Duration: Intended as a long-term engagement, subject to satisfactory performance and mutually agreed terms.
- Compensation: To be agreed based on qualifications, relevant experience and the candidate's proposed monthly remuneration.
- Equipment: The contractor is expected to provide their own computer and reliable internet connection.
Performance will be assessed primarily on the accuracy, consistency and timeliness of RFQ screening, the quality of qualified opportunities referred to Sales, and the reliability of supporting research.
