About the Role

We're hiring an experienced YouTube thumbnail designer for a long-term role across our channels. $500 USD/month base, consistent work, clear references, and room to grow.

We own and operate the channels you'll work on. This is an in-house role, not an agency juggling outside clients.

We need someone who can make a viewer stop scrolling and want to click. Strong design skills matter, but so does choosing the right image, creating curiosity, and understanding what interests each channel's audience.

THE WORK

  • Create thumbnails across different channels, topics, and visual styles, including gaming, TV, and pop culture.
  • Turn video titles and briefs into clear, interesting visual concepts. The thumbnail should add to the title rather than simply repeat it.
  • Match each channel's style while making every thumbnail relevant to its specific video.
  • Use strong image selection, composition, cutouts, colour, contrast, and readable text where appropriate. Thumbnails need to work at small sizes.
  • Work with templates we provide and help build reusable templates or repeatable formulas for additional styles.
  • Keep editable source files organised, meet agreed deadlines, and apply feedback to future work.

WORKLOAD AND PAY

The base is $500 USD/month. You'll start with a few thumbnails per working day while learning our channels, templates, and feedback. Volume will increase as you become comfortable, with an eventual target of around 10–12 thumbnails per working day.

That target relies on established templates and repeatable styles. You won't be expected to invent 10–12 completely new designs from scratch every day. Familiar template-based thumbnails can often take around 10–20 minutes; new styles, harder concepts, and revisions can take longer. We build up based on your readiness and consistent quality, not a fixed deadline to hit full volume.

We're happy to show shortlisted applicants the templates and examples before they d ---------- , so you can judge the actual workload yourself.

This role requires exclusive thumbnail work for us while you're on the team: no thumbnail clients outside our business, including competing channels. Please apply only if you're comfortable with this arrangement.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Proven graphic design experience and a strong portfolio of YouTube thumbnails.
  • Strong Photoshop skills, or equivalent software that supports professional editing and reusable, editable files.
  • Ability to adapt across several styles, rather than only producing one type of thumbnail.
  • An understanding of visual hierarchy, curiosity, audience interest, and how titles and thumbnails work together. Attractive design alone isn't enough.
  • Good communication, reliable delivery, and the ability to improve from feedback without needing the same corrections repeatedly.
  • Someone who can suggest a stronger concept when the brief could be improved.

WHY JOIN

Fixed monthly income, ongoing work across our own channels, and a repeatable process you can get faster at over time. Strong performers may grow into a thumbnail manager role, helping develop styles, review designs, and guide other designers. Further opportunities depend on your ability and what the business needs; promotion isn't guaranteed.

HOW TO APPLY

Use the subject: Thumbnail Designer – [Your Name]

Please include:
1. A link to 5–10 of your strongest YouTube thumbnails. Include different styles if possible and explain your contribution to any team work.
2. Choose one thumbnail from your portfolio and briefly explain who it targets, what makes it interesting, and how it works with the video title.
3. Your design software and experience using or building templates.
4. Your availability, time zone, and earliest start date.
5. Confirmation that you're comfortable with $500/month, the gradual increase towards 10–12 thumbnails per working day, and exclusive thumbnail work for us.

If you have performance results for your work, feel free to include them with context. They aren't required. A focused application with relevant examples is more useful than a long generic cover letter.
