We are NOT looking for someone to handle medical billing, insurance verification, claims processing, or general credentialing.
We need someone who understands how U.S. insurance companies negotiate provider reimbursement rates and has successfully secured rate increases for healthcare practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Review our current insurance contracts and reimbursement fee schedules.
2. Identify opportunities to increase reimbursement rates with our existing insurance payers.
3. Contact insurance companies' Provider Contracting and Network Management departments.
4. Submit formal requests for reimbursement rate increases.
5. Negotiate directly with insurance representatives by phone and email .
6. Prepare persuasive rate-increase proposals using reimbursement comparisons, practice information, and supporting documentation.
7. Negotiate higher reimbursement rates for physical therapy CPT codes, including 97110, 97112, 97140, 97530, and evaluation codes.
8. Follow up consistently, negotiate counteroffers, and escalate requests when necessary.
9. Track every negotiation, including payer contacts, requests, responses, proposed rates, and next steps.
10. Obtain written contract amendments or revised fee schedules for management review and approval.
11. Assist with confirming that approved reimbursement increases are implemented correctly.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. At least 3 years of experience working with U.S. healthcare insurance contracts, payer contracting, or provider reimbursement.
2. Proven success renegotiating existing insurance contracts to obtain higher reimbursement rates.
3. Experience communicating directly with U.S. insurance company contracting departments.
4. Strong knowledge of CPT codes, contracted fee schedules, and reimbursement structures.
5. Excellent written and spoken English.
6. Strong negotiation, persuasion, research, and follow-up skills.
7. Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
8. Availability during U.S. Eastern Time business hours.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
1. Negotiating contracts for outpatient physical therapy, occupational therapy, or other rehabilitation services.
2. Working with major U.S. commercial insurance carriers, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare.
3. Experience negotiating percentage increases to existing fee schedules or reimbursement methodologies.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
We are looking for someone who can deliver measurable financial results.
Success means securing higher contracted reimbursement rates from insurance companies we already work with, not simply making phone calls or submitting requests.
We will provide existing contracts, fee schedules, billing data, and other appropriate information needed to support negotiations.
All proposed agreements and final contract changes will require management approval.
This position will begin part-time, with the potential for additional hours
