Accountant/Bookkeeper

Australian Business Experience Required | Contract / Project-Based

Lekota Disability & DVA Nursing Services is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and experienced freelance Bookkeeper / Accountant to assist with specific accounting tasks on an as-needed basis.

This is a contract/project-based opportunity, ideal for someone who has experience working with Australian businesses and is available to complete accounting tasks as required. The workload is not continuous, and work will be assigned depending on business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain and update accurate financial records and bookkeeping entries.
Perform bank, credit card, and account reconciliations.
Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS) and assist with GST reporting.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable as required.
Review financial transactions and identify discrepancies.
Prepare financial reports and assist with month-end reporting when needed.
Maintain organised records of expenses, receipts, and other financial documents.
Assist with other accounting and bookkeeping tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, Accountant, or in a similar role.
Previous experience working with Australian businesses is essential.
Strong practical knowledge of Australian GST, BAS preparation, and reconciliations.
Experience using accounting software such as Xero.
Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within agreed deadlines.
Good written communication skills and the ability to handle confidential financial information.
