About the Role

We run a true crime YouTube channel and need a part-time FOIA requester to get police footage (bodycam, dashcam, interrogations, 911 calls) from US police departments.

What you’ll do:

Find interesting crime cases from any year, ones with a confession, a twist, a crazy arrest or a weird suspect
File public records requests for them (closed cases get released the easiest)
Handle all email s with departments and follow up when they go quiet
Track requests in a spreadsheet
Upload footage to Google Drive and let me know when it comes in

What you need:

Strong written English
Organized and persistent
Good sense of what makes a gripping story
Okay with disturbing footage
FOIA experience is a plus, not required

YOU MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE IN THIS!

Pay:

$20 per usable footage released
$30-40 for big ones, like full interrogations or high-profile cases
Departments can take a few weeks to respond, so first payouts take time

To apply, start your message with “BODYCAM.”
