Senior Video Editor — Cinematic Long-Form + Short-Form Commercial
Confidential employer
You Get One Shot. Don't Waste It on Another 7-Second Clip.
You get one shot to make something people will remember for the rest of their lives.
Will you waste it?
Hi, I'm Yewan. Yes, the one writing this job post at 2 a.m. We're looking for someone great. Dare I say, really f*cking amazing at video editing.
We want to make the kind of videos people remember for years. The kind that quietly reset what people think is possible with a camera and a timeline.
But enough about us. Let's talk about you.
---
Where you probably are right now
You're an artist. A storyteller. You can feel when a shot has held one frame too long.
And you're spending your days cutting 30-second clips for a faceless channel, or stitching AI footage together that people will forget before they finish scrolling past it.
Maybe you're freelancing, and every brief says "make it pop" and nothing else. Maybe you're at an agency where editing is the last step in an assembly line, so you get the footage late, the notes vague, and the deadline yesterday. Maybe the best thing you ever cut sits in a private Drive folder because the client went with the version their nephew liked.
You know how to do this at a much higher level. Nobody has asked you to.
If that landed, keep reading. If it didn't, this isn't your role, and we'd rather you know now.

What we're actually making
Tulen runs marketing for wedding venues, event spaces, restaurants, and hospitality brands across the US. Places where people have the best nights of their lives.
That's the whole brief, really. Our clients sell moments. Most of the video made about them looks like everyone else's.
We're building two things, and you'd own both:
Cinematic long-form. Luxury vlog storytelling, brand films, interviews, and podcast episodes, typically 3–15 minutes. Real narrative arcs. Pacing that breathes. Color that has a point of view. The kind of piece someone watches to the end and then sends to a friend.
Short-form commercial.15–60 second vertical ads and social cuts for Reels, TikTok, and Shorts. Same taste, compressed. Multiple hooks off the same footage, built to perform, not just to look good.
Most editors are good at one of these. We're looking for the one who can switch between them in the same afternoon.
This isn't a "YouTube editor" role. It's closer to a cinematographer's editor and post-production lead: someone whose taste becomes Tulen's standard.
---
What you'd actually be doing
- Turning raw vlog, venue, podcast, and interview footage into cinematic pieces with real story structure
- Cutting direct response ads and feed-native short-form, with multiple hook variations for testing
- Color correction and grading with an actual look, not a LUT and a prayer
- Clean dialogue, music mixing, sound design
- Titles, lower-thirds, captions, and motion graphics where they earn their place
- Pushing back on the brief when you see a better story in the footage
- Helping build Tulen's video workflows, standards, and eventually the team around them
---
Who this is for
- Taste first. Shot selection, story instincts, rhythm. We can't teach this, so it's the first thing we look for.
- 3–5+ years editing professionally, across both long-form and short-form.
- Advanced in Premiere Pro (DaVinci for color is a strong plus).
- Color and sound are part of the edit to you, not an afterthought.
- You know current Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube specs and why vertical pacing is different.
- Organized. Clean project files, version control, sane naming. We work out of Google Drive, ClickUp, and Slack.
- You communicate early. A blocker flagged on Monday is a non-issue. Flagged on Friday, it's a problem.
Bonus: wedding, hospitality, travel, or luxury brand work; direct response ad experience; commercial or film production background; motion graphics; captioning workflows.

What we don't care about
Your résumé, mostly. A flashy showreel, even less. Reels are the best 40 seconds of someone's career set to a drop.
We care how you think. Why you cut where you cut. What you left out. What inspires you. Who you learned to edit from.
---
How this works
Step one is a paid test edit.Real footage, paid, five working days.
You get a raw podcast recording and b-roll across six environments. No script, no reference cut, no shot list. That's on purpose. We're not testing whether you can execute someone else's idea. We're testing your judgment.
Two cuts from the same footage:
1. A 30–45 second direct response ad, voiceover-driven.You build the VO from what the speaker actually said. You're selecting, not scripting: find the argument and cut the rest. Voice leads, picture follows.
2. A 15-second cut built for the feed. Not an ad. It has to stop a scroll with the sound off and get watched twice. Plus two alternate openings on the same body, so we can see how you think about hooks.
Both are held to a real craft spec: neutral, cinematic color that holds skin tones across every environment, sound design nobody notices, and clean captions.
What we're judging: clip selection, color consistency, whether you found something worth saying in the raw audio, restraint, and whether we're hooked in the first three seconds.
That's how we'll know. It's also how you'll know whether you actually want to work with us.
Turnaround once you're in: five business days for new projects, two for revisions, unless agreed otherwise.
On compensation: we're not posting a range. What you're worth depends on what you bring, and we'd rather stretch for the right person than save money on the wrong one. Tell us your number and we'll have a real conversation.
Logistics: fully remote, flexible schedule, with overlap for feedback and check-ins. Room to grow into creative leadership as the video side scales.

To apply
Email [email hidden] with the subject line:
[Your Full Name] | Senior Video Editor
Include:
- Your résumé (PDF)
- Portfolio links with both long-form and short-form work
- The three pieces that best represent you, and what exactly you did on each
- Your current employment or client commitments
- Your expected monthly rate
- A 1–3 minute Loom: why this role, and what you loved and hated about your last gig
Then answer these. There are a lot, and some won't look like they're about editing. That's on purpose.
1. Link the piece you're proudest of. What did the raw footage look like, and what's one choice in the edit that most editors wouldn't have made?
2. Link a piece you'd recut if you could. What would you change?
3. We hand you an hour of raw podcast audio and b-roll from six locations, and ask for a 30–45 second direct response ad at an A+ level. How long would that take you? Give us a number.
4. Why that number? Walk us through your process.
5. What's a video (not yours) you've watched more than five times? Why does it work?
6. How do you decide when to hold a shot versus cut?
7. A client's only note is "make it pop." What do you do?
8. Tell us about a workflow you simplified. What was broken, what did you change, what happened?
9. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
10. What's one book or film that stuck with you this year, and why?
11. Are you delusional about what you can accomplish? Do you believe you can make anything put in front of you great?
Applications without a portfolio, résumé, and Loom won't be considered.
If you're a fit, we'll get on a call and you'll walk us through a timeline you've actually cut.
