ABOUT THE ROLE

I am a graphic designer and creative director based in Detroit, Michigan (USA). I am hiring an experienced Wix Studio developer to build a nonprofit organization’s website from completed and approved Figma designs.

The site will include responsive page templates, reusable components, CMS-driven content, historical content migrated from the existing website, and several standard third-party tools and integrations.

This is not a general web developer position where Wix experience is optional. I need someone who knows the Wix ecosystem extremely well and can confidently translate a detailed visual design system into a polished, responsive and manageable Wix Studio website.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

I am looking for someone with:

• 6+ years of professional experience with Wix, Editor X and/or the broader Wix ecosystem
• 2+ years of strong hands-on Wix Studio experience
• Experience building complete production websites in Wix Studio
• Experience translating detailed Figma designs into responsive Wix Studio builds
• Strong knowledge of Wix CMS, dynamic pages, reusable components and responsive breakpoints
• Experience migrating existing website content, preserving URLs where needed, and preparing sites for launch
• Familiarity with forms, third-party integrations, redirects, basic SEO, accessibility and performance practices
• Strong visual judgment and attention to typography, spacing, alignment, scale, color and composition

Broader front-end or web development experience is valuable. Experience with Velo, JavaScript, APIs or custom code is also helpful, but deep Wix proficiency is the priority for this project.

THE WORK

You will help:

• Review completed Figma designs and flag technical issues before development
• Build approved page templates and responsive layouts in Wix Studio
• Create reusable components, CMS collections and dynamic content structures
• Migrate existing blog posts, press releases, reports and other archived content
• Preserve publication dates, chronology, categories, metadata and existing URLs where appropriate
• Configure forms, event/calendar functionality and standard third-party integrations
• Support external donation and ticket-purchasing pathways
• Complete redirects, responsive testing, cross-browser QA, revisions and launch preparation
• Organize the finished site so nonprofit staff can manage content after handoff

DESIGN SKILLS MATTER

Wix Studio is a visual development environment, so this role requires more than technical functionality.

You should be able to work closely from established Figma designs and notice inconsistencies in typography, spacing, hierarchy, alignment, scale, color and composition. The finished website should closely reflect the approved design system across desktop, tablet and mobile breakpoints.

You will not be creating the brand or website design from scratch. Your role is to translate an established design system accurately and thoughtfully into Wix Studio.

WORKING TOGETHER

We will communicate through email , Wix Studio, Slack, Figma and Zoom or Google Meet. You should be comfortable sharing work in progress, communicating questions or blockers early, receiving detailed design feedback and giving regular updates.

Most work can happen on your own schedule. One scheduled meeting each week and occasional overlap with Detroit Eastern Time will be needed. Meeting times will be arranged in advance with reasonable flexibility across time zones.

The project will include lighter planning periods and more concentrated development, migration, revision and QA periods.
