YouTube & Short-Form Video Editor with Creative Storytelling Skills
Confidential employer
Remote | Part-time | Ongoing work
Hi! I’m Eva, a London-based creator, entrepreneur and mum of three. My content explores cultural experiences, interesting activities and events, family adventures, and my journey building small businesses.
I’m looking for a talented video editor who can turn my footage and ideas into engaging YouTube videos, Shorts and Instagram Reels.
Creative thinking is essential. You should enjoy finding the strongest hook, shaping a story and suggesting ways to make a video more compelling.
What you’ll do
- Edit YouTube videos from footage of experiences, activities and events, as well as talking-to-camera videos.
- Develop strong openings and a clear story flow that keeps viewers interested.
- Add relevant B-roll, captions, text, music, sound effects and visual effects where they improve the video.
- Improve audio, colour and pacing for a polished, natural result.
- Identify strong moments from YouTube videos and turn them into standalone Shorts and Reels, with their own hooks and satisfying endings.
- Edit separately filmed vertical videos to make them more engaging.
- Suggest hook options, story angles and, over time, short scripts or talking points.
- Flag missing footage or narration and suggest what I should record to complete the story.
I like engaging edits with personality, humour and thoughtful pacing. Effects should support the story and suit the moment.
Who I’m looking for
- A portfolio showing both YouTube videos and short-form content.
- Strong storytelling skills: you can recognise what is interesting in raw footage and build a video around it.
- Good written and spoken English, including the ability to write natural hooks and accurate captions.
- Confidence suggesting ideas and explaining your creative choices.
- Reliability, clear communication and an organised approach to files and deadlines.
- Openness to feedback and the ability to apply what you learn to future videos.
- Experience using an video editing tool.
-Experience in creating covers for youtube videos
- Experience editing personal creator content, cultural or travel videos, vlogs, or talking videos would be especially relevant.
How we’ll work together
-Initially, we’ll work closely so you can learn my voice, audience and preferences. I’ll share footage, reference videos and a short written or voice-note brief.
-As we build a working relationship, I’d like you to take increasing ownership of hooks, structure and creative suggestions, with less detailed direction from me and be more proactive.
Workload and payment
- We will start with a trial period with the agreed payment and total hours of work.
- After trial period we will establish a regular, long-term part-time role.
- Please share your availability and rate.
Paid trial
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to complete a small paid trial using footage I provide. This will involve suggesting two hook options and editing a 60–90-second video so we can assess storytelling, editing style and communication.
We’ll agree on the fee and scope before you begin.
How to apply
Please send to ----------
A brief introduction and why this role interests you.
Two or three relevant portfolio examples, including at least one YouTube video and one Short/Reel. Explain your contribution to each.
Your editing software, availability and usual turnaround time.
Your rates as outlined above.
A short answer to this question: “If I send you footage from an interesting cultural event without a script, how would you find the hook and shape the story?”
I’m looking for someone who enjoys contributing ideas and would like to grow with a creator over time.
Looking forward to seeing your work!
Eva
