About the Role

Overview:

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented WordPress Designer to join our team, specializing in crafting visually compelling and user-friendly websites using Elementor and other page builders such as Divi, WPBakery (if required). The ideal candidate has a strong design sense, is proficient in HTML and CSS, and understands how to bring design concepts to life within the WordPress ecosystem.

This role requires a mix of creative talent and technical execution — someone who can take design briefs, build beautiful and functional layouts, and optimize for responsiveness, accessibility, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and build responsive WordPress websites using Elementor, custom CSS/HTML where needed, and other page builders such as Divi, WPBakery (if required)

Translate design briefs or mockups into clean, functional website layouts

Collaborate with developers, content creators, and project managers to deliver high-quality websites

Maintain and update existing WordPress sites, ensuring design consistency and performance

Optimize design elements for speed, SEO, and user experience

Ensure all designs are mobile-friendly and accessible

Stay current with design trends, WordPress tools, and Elementor capabilities

Assist in developing design systems or reusable templates for efficient site production

Proactively monitor websites and identify potential issues before they are reported by clients

Work with and improve existing or legacy WordPress implementations, including websites originally built by other developers or designers

Manage and maintain multiple WordPress websites, preferably in an agency or multi-client environment

Document maintenance activities, website changes, issues identified, and resolutions performed

Work with staging environments before implementing major updates, maintenance changes, or redesigns on live websites

Use website performance and optimization tools, including caching and image optimization solutions, to improve site speed and performance

Perform basic WordPress troubleshooting, including resolving plugin/theme conflicts, Elementor issues, critical errors, and broken layouts

Safely update WordPress core, plugins, themes, and page builders, including performing compatibility checks before and after updates

Assess existing websites and recommend design, UX, performance, usability, and accessibility improvements

Redesign and improve existing WordPress websites, not only build new websites from scratch

Use WordPress maintenance and management tools such as MainWP, ManageWP, WP Umbrella, or similar platforms to monitor and manage multiple websites

Conduct ongoing WordPress website maintenance across existing client websites, ensuring sites remain secure, functional, up to date, and visually consistent

Required Skills & Qualifications:

2+ years of experience designing for WordPress, ideally in an agency or fast-paced environment

Strong experience with Elementor (Pro preferred) and customizing layouts

Proficient in HTML and CSS; able to tweak styles beyond what visual builders allow

Solid understanding of responsive design, UX/UI principles, and typography

Ability to take a project from concept to completion

Strong portfolio of WordPress sites demonstrating design and implementation skills

Attention to detail and a passion for clean, elegant, and accessible design

Basic knowledge of WordPress plugins, themes, and CMS structure

Proactive approach to website monitoring and issue identification, rather than relying only on reported client issues

Ability to work with and improve existing or legacy WordPress implementations, including sites built by other developers or designers

Ability to document maintenance work, website changes, issues found, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions

Experience working with staging environments before major updates, maintenance work, or redesigns are deployed to live websites

Experience with website performance and optimization tools, including caching and image optimization

Basic WordPress troubleshooting skills, including plugin/theme conflicts, Elementor issues, critical errors, and broken layouts

Experience safely updating WordPress core, plugins, themes, and page builders, with compatibility checks and appropriate testing

Ability to assess existing websites and recommend practical design, UX, performance, usability, and accessibility improvements

Ability to redesign existing WordPress websites and improve existing layouts rather than only building new websites from scratch

Experience using WordPress maintenance/management platforms such as MainWP, ManageWP, WP Umbrella, or similar tools

Demonstrated experience conducting ongoing WordPress website maintenance and managing multiple websites

Nice to Have:

Familiarity with JavaScript or PHP basics

Experience with Adobe XD, Figma, or other design tools

Understanding of SEO best practices and page speed optimization

Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG)

Experience checking and maintaining website forms, SSL, broken links, and general WordPress site health

Ability to perform website backups and establish rollback points before major updates, maintenance work, or redesigns

Experience with backup, migration, and restoration tools such as WPvivid, All-in-One WP Migration, UpdraftPlus, or similar

How we work

Remote, Philippines-based. Core hours are 9am–1pm Philippine Time every workday. The rest of your hours are flexible within the same day.

Time tracking. We track hours in Hubstaff against client projects, so each client gets the time they pay for. It also records activity data, and we do not use that to judge how well you do your job.

AI is part of the work. We use AI tools across the company. We want people who use them well and check what comes back, not people who trust them blindly or refuse to use them.

We are still building. Some of our processes are newer than we would like. You will help shape how this work runs, not only follow a finished playbook.
