About the Role
We are hiring a Behavioral Health Revenue Cycle Specialist to support the revenue cycle team of our client, a U.S. based telehealth mental health provider serving children and teens, and now their parents as well. This role focuses on the insurance side of the revenue cycle: eligibility checking, payment posting, and denial and rejection follow up in accounts receivable.

Many of the client's patients are referred through schools, so insurance details do not always arrive complete or accurate. The ideal candidate has behavioral health revenue cycle experience and enjoys untangling coverage issues and getting claims paid. This role rarely works directly with patients.

What You'll Do
1. Eligibility and Insurance Verification
2. Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
3. Resolve incomplete or incorrect coverage details collected at intake
4. Navigate behavioral health carve outs, TPAs, and Medicaid plans
5. Document verification results accurately
6. Denials and AR Follow Up
7. Work denied and rejected claims, identify the root cause, then correct, resubmit, or appeal
8. Follow up with payers on outstanding claims until resolved, prioritizing by age and balance
9. Flag recurring denial patterns to the revenue cycle team
10. Record every action and follow up note in the billing system
11. Payment Posting
12. Post payments and adjustments accurately
13. Flag discrepancies or unclear account issues for review
14. Occasionally assist with insurance questions when needed

Required Experience
1. Behavioral health experience on the insurance side of revenue cycle management
2. Hands on experience with eligibility verification
3. Experience with denial and rejection follow up in AR
4. Familiarity with behavioral health carve outs and TPAs
5. Payment posting experience, or willingness to be cross trained
6. Strong written and spoken English, and comfortable speaking with payers by phone
7. Strong attention to detail and documentation habits
8. Able to work full time during Eastern Time business hours
9. Comfortable on camera in team meetings, with reliable internet and a quiet workspace

Nice to Have
1. Medicaid billing experience
2. Full revenue cycle experience beyond the insurance side
3. Pediatric behavioral health experience
4. Patient billing or collections experience
5. Fluent in Spanish and English

What Success Looks Like
1. Eligibility is verified accurately and consistently
2. Denials and rejections are worked promptly and resolved or appealed according to process
3. Outstanding AR is followed up on until resolved
4. Account notes are accurate and complete
5. Recurring denial issues are escalated appropriately
6. The team has reliable support managing the insurance side of the revenue cycle

Who This Role Is Best For Someone Who
1. Has behavioral health insurance side revenue cycle experience
2. Enjoys investigating and resolving denials
3. Communicates clearly and professionally with payers and teammates
4. Is organized and detail oriented
5. Wants a stable, long term full time role
