Bookkeeper (full-time, remote)

About the Company
We are a fast-growing US direct-to-consumer supplement brand selling through Shopify and Amazon, with a large subscription customer base and thousands of orders a day. Revenue has grown several times over this year and the team is scaling to match. This is a new role: you will set up how the books are run, not inherit someone else's system. It is a long-term position with room to grow as the finance function expands.

The main team works US hours (Eastern to Pacific) although roles are spread throughout the world.

The Role
You own the day-to-day books and the monthly P&L for a high-volume, multi-channel ecommerce business. The external CFO sets the structure and reviews your work; you do the work.

Scope of Work
Daily bookkeeping: record, categorise and reconcile all bank, card and payment processor accounts
Shopify payout reconciliation: match each deposit to its orders, refunds, disputes, chargebacks and fees. This is the core skill for the role
Amazon settlement reconciliation: split into fees, ads, product cost, freight and agency fees
Monthly P&L & departmental reports: Build and maintain the monthly P&L and per-product or per-team P&Ls, using consistent accounting rules
Supplier payables: match manufacturer invoices to orders, stock received and payments, and keep a running balance
Ad-spend reconciliation: agency payments against platform spend, and month-end close
Support sales tax compliance: track sales by state, accrue liabilities and prepare data for filings, with the CFO and a sales tax specialist
First project: a full supplier reconciliation (invoices against payments against stock received) under the CFO's direction

Experience Required
3+ years bookkeeping for US ecommerce brands. Shopify required, Amazon strongly preferred
Has reconciled Shopify payouts and Amazon settlements at high volume
Has built monthly P&Ls, not only entered transactions
QuickBooks Online or Xero; strong Excel or Google Sheets; A2X or similar a plus
US sales tax experience a plus
