Figma & Squarespace Web Designer for a Canadian Squarespace Studio

I run a Squarespace web design and copywriting studio in Canada, working with therapists, clinics, consultants and other service businesses. I'm looking for one designer to work alongside me: designing page layouts in Figma, and then building the approved designs in Squarespace.

Squarespace experience is NOT required. I'll train you on it. What I can't train is an eye for layout, so that's what I'm hiring on.

THE WORK

• Designing website pages in Figma from my brand direction and the client's content
• Building the approved designs in Squarespace 7.1, which I'll teach you
• Making sure layouts hold up on desktop, tablet and mobile
• Interior pages, blog layouts, template pages
• Forms, embeds and third-party integrations
• Occasional small updates to live client websites

WHAT I'M HIRING ON

• Strong Figma skills, specifically for websites rather than apps
• A careful eye for spacing, typography and hierarchy. This matters to me more than anything else on this list.
• Experience designing for service businesses, where the job is to make someone trust a professional they've never met
• Able to work within a brand style guide rather than applying your own aesthetic to everything
• Picks up new tools quickly, since you'll be learning my platform and my process
• Willing to say "I'm not sure" rather than guess

NICE TO HAVE, NOT REQUIRED

• Any Squarespace experience at all
• Custom CSS
• Webflow, Framer or similar visual builders
• Accessibility knowledge

THE ARRANGEMENT

15 hours a week to start, growing as my client volume does.

Pay: $7.20 USD/hour to start. Two scheduled increases built in:

• After 4 weeks: $8 USD/hour, once you're working independently on production
• After a further 8 weeks: $9 USD/hour, once you're building full pages in Squarespace without me checking every section

That's a 25% increase over three months, and it's not a maybe. If the work is where it needs to be, the raise happens.

The first weeks include paid training on Squarespace and on how I build. I'd rather invest in one person and keep them for years than keep rehiring.

CONFIDENTIALITY

You'd see how I work, including my clients, my process and my templates. Everyone I take on signs a short agreement covering confidentiality, not approaching my clients directly, and ownership of the work produced for me. Nothing unusual, but I'll send it before any client work starts.

HOW TO APPLY

1. A Figma link with at least three website designs you made for service businesses. Full visual designs, not wireframes. Give me view access and tell me what your role was on each one.

2. What you do inside Figma to make a design easy for someone else to build from.

3. Do you currently run your own web design business or take on your own clients? Either answer is fine, I'd just like to know the shape of your week.

4. Your rate expectation, hours available, and timezone.
