About the Role

Why You'll Love This Role

Imagine getting paid to turn raw footage into scroll-stopping, viral-worthy YouTube Shorts — the kind that rack up millions of views and keep audiences glued from the first frame to the last. That's exactly what you'll be doing here.

This is a long-term, full-time remote position. No commute. No office politics. Just you, your editing software, and a library of raw footage waiting to be turned into content that performs.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Edit 15–25 short-form vertical videos per week (YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok) using the Short Domination editing method
  • Apply fast-paced, retention-driven editing techniques: punch-in/punch-out zooms, jump cuts, flash transitions, and glitch effects
  • Add dynamic, synced captions with keyword highlighting (green/color callouts for emphasis)
  • Layer sound design elements: music beds, whoosh effects, bass drops, and audio transitions
  • Create and insert motion graphics: brand icons, lower thirds, countdown timers, and celebratory effects (e.g., money rain, confetti)
  • Use B-roll inserts and desaturated flashback clips to build narrative context and emotional tension
  • Structure each Short with a proven framework: Hook → Context → Conflict → Climax → Resolution
  • Color grade footage for a clean, professional, and consistent look
  • Follow brand guidelines, SOPs, and templates provided by the team
  • Deliver final exports in vertical 9:16 format, optimized for each platform
  • Organize completed projects and assets in Google Drive
  • Collaborate with the content team on pacing, hooks, and creative direction
  • Stay current with short-form video trends, algorithm changes, and viral editing techniques

What We're Looking For

  • At least 1–2 years of experience editing short-form vertical video content (YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, or TikTok) — this is non-negotiable
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and/or DaVinci Resolve (required); After Effects knowledge is a strong plus
  • Understanding of retention-focused editing: hooks, pacing, pattern interrupts, and viewer psychology
  • Experience with dynamic caption tools (CapCut, Submagic, or manual caption styling in Premiere)
  • Strong sense of audio design: layering dialogue, music, and sound effects for maximum impact
  • Ability to take long-form or raw footage and condense it into a compelling 30–60 second story
  • A keen eye for color grading, visual consistency, and brand alignment
  • Reliable internet connection (minimum 25 Mbps) and a computer capable of editing HD/4K video
  • Strong communication skills in English (written)
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to meet daily/weekly deadlines without micromanagement

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with After Effects for motion graphics and custom transitions
  • Familiarity with AI editing tools (Descript, Opus Clip, or similar)
  • Thumbnail design skills (Photoshop, Canva)
  • Portfolio includes videos with 100K+ views

Schedule

  • Full-time (40 hours/week)
  • Flexible hours with some overlap required for team check-ins
  • Deliverables-based — we track output, not hours at a desk
