About the Role

Amy's is looking for a talented video editor to join our team part-time. Work starts on an assignment basis. If you show and prove to be an asset, we will ask you to become salaried.

What you'll do:

  • Edit long-form YouTube videos: clean cuts, pacing, b-roll, captions, sound leveling, and engaging intros
  • Repurpose long-form content into short-form clips for TikTok and YouTube Shorts (strong hooks, captions, vertical formatting)
  • Follow brand style and feedback to deliver polished, on-brand videos
  • Hit agreed turnaround times consistently

What we're looking for:

  • Proven experience editing YouTube videos — both long-form AND short-form (portfolio required)
  • Proficient in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut, or CapCut — tell us your stack
  • Strong sense of pacing, retention, and what makes short-form content hook viewers
  • Good written English and communication — you take feedback and run with it
  • Reliable internet and your own editing setup

Nice to have: motion graphics / basic animation, thumbnail design experience.

Hours & pay: Part-time to start (hours vary by assignment). Hourly pay at market rate, based on your skill and experience — please include your rate when you apply.

HOW TO APPLY — READ THIS FIRST:
Most applicants skim job posts. We need people who don't. To prove you read this entire post, start your application message with this exact phrase: "VIDEO Amy's sent me"
Applications that don't start with those exact four words will not be reviewed. No exceptions, no hard feelings — we just need people who follow instructions. (Starting with VIDEO tells us you're applying for the video editor role.)

Then answer these 5 questions in your application:
1. Please share links to 2–3 videos you've edited (at least one long-form and one short-form).
2. What editing software do you use?
3. Roughly how long would a 10-minute talking-head YouTube video take you to edit?
4. Are you comfortable turning one long video into 3–5 short-form clips?
5. What hours (Philippine time) are you generally available to work?

TEST PROJECT (required — we hire based on this):
Pick ONE of the 5 topics below and produce the video as briefed. Submit the finished video file or a viewable link with your application, along with your answers to the questions above. We will choose who to hire based on the quality of this test video: editing skill, pacing, the hook, and how well you followed the brief.

Topic 1 — "5 Foods That Slow Aging (Eat This Much Daily)"
Countdown from 5 to 1. Each food gets its exact daily amount in big on-screen text (for example: "2 kiwis daily — vitamin C for collagen"). End card: "Follow for part 2."

Topic 2 — "3 Things Secretly Aging You vs 3 That Fight Back"
Three contrast pairs (for example: soda vs green tea). Show each "aging" item with a red X, then its fix with a green check. Fast cuts, one pair every ~5 seconds.

Topic 3 — "You're a Chicken Cooking in an Oven"
Explain glycation with this analogy: sugar binding to protein ages you like a chicken browning in an oven. Then give 3 quick hacks (eat vegetables first, walk after meals, a spoon of vinegar before eating). Educational with a slightly funny tone.

Topic 4 — "2 Body Processes That D ---------- How Fast You Age"
Cover autophagy (the body recycling damaged cells — supported by mushrooms / fasting) and mitophagy (mitochondria cleanup — supported by berries). Use simple visuals or stock footage; keep jargon minimal and explain every term on screen.

Topic 5 — "7 Foods That Boost Nitric Oxide"
Hook: nitric oxide keeps arteries young and it drops as you age. Count down 7 foods (beet juice, arugula, garlic, dark chocolate, citrus, pomegranate, fermented foods) with bold numbers on screen.

Topic 6 — "Birthday Freebies in Vancouver" (make a boring topic unskippable)
Every month we post a roundup of free birthday perks at Vancouver restaurants and shops — free appetizers, meals, desserts (full directory: ---------- ) — but these posts aren't getting traction. Your job: turn this into a 30–59 second vertical video people can't scroll past. Hook in the first 2 seconds (for example: "Born this month? Vancouver restaurants owe you free food"), then rapid-fire 3–5 freebies with big on-screen text, and end with "Link in bio for the full directory." Clean, modern Western editing style — no overdone effects.

Topic 7 — "Helium Balloons: Need to Know"
We sell and inflate helium balloons — giant foil numbers, shimmering chrome balloons — with walk-in inflation at our Davie Street store in Vancouver's West End. No reservation needed, just drop by. Turn this into a 30–59 second vertical video teaching viewers what they need to know before buying party balloons: how long they float, foil vs latex, and that they can walk into Amy's on Davie and get them inflated on the spot. Hook in the first 2 seconds (for example: "Stop! Don't buy party balloons until you know this"), quick punchy tips with big on-screen text, end with "Walk-ins welcome at Amy's on Davie." Clean, modern Western editing style — no overdone effects.

SPECS (all topics): 30–59 seconds, vertical 9:16, big readable captions throughout, the hook must land in the first 2 seconds, trending-style pacing. You may use stock footage and AI/text-to-speech voiceover — you do not need to appear on camera. No watermarks.

TEST PROJECT 2 (required — we hire based on this too):
Download the raw interview footage here: ----------
Cut it into a TikTok-ready clip (30–59 seconds, vertical 9:16). Study this example of the finished style we're after: ----------
Requirements: hook in the first 2 seconds, clean readable captions throughout, tight pacing. This video is for a Western audience (Canada/USA) — use a clean, modern Western social-media editing style. No overdone effects, flashy transitions, or cluttered graphics.
Submit the finished video file or a viewable link with your application.

---

TEST VIDEO PAYMENT TERMS (please read before submitting):
The test videos you submit with your application are unpaid. However — if we select your video because we like it and want to use it, we will pay you $20-$25 for it. Simple as that: submit your best work, and if it's good enough to publish, you get paid.
