About the Role

I run a small Squarespace web design and copywriting studio in Canada, working mostly with therapists, consultants and other service businesses. I am looking for one creative person to work alongside me, part time to start, with the hours and pay growing as you take on more.

What you’d be doing

Designing social media graphics in Canva from my brand templates, roughly 8 to 12 posts a month
Writing short social captions and light copy edits, following a brand voice guide I’ll give you
Scheduling posts and keeping a simple content calendar up to date
Building out website pages in Squarespace 7.1 from designs I’ve already created, so mostly careful implementation rather than designing from scratch
Resizing, cropping and lightly retouching photos for web
Occasional small website updates for clients, such as swapping an image or updating text on a page

What I’m looking for

Strong eye for layout, spacing and typography. This matters more to me than years of experience. If your work is clean and considered, I want to see it.
Confident in Canva. Figma or Adobe is a bonus but not required.
Some Squarespace experience, or clear evidence you pick up new tools quickly. I will train you on my way of building.
Written English strong enough for short social captions. You do not need to be a copywriter. I write the long-form copy.
Reliable with deadlines, and comfortable saying when something is unclear rather than guessing.
Able to overlap at least two hours with Pacific Time, Monday to Friday. The rest of your hours are yours to schedule.

The training and the raise

The first two weeks, I’ll walk you through how I build websites, my design standards, and the brand voice I write in. We’ll review at the end of week two, and if the work is where I need it to be, your rate goes up. I’d rather invest in one person for the long term than keep hiring.

How to apply:

Put the word lighthouse at the start of your application so I know you read this.

Then send me:

A link to your portfolio, or 3 to 5 examples of social graphics or website work you’ve done
One or two sentences on which of the tasks above you’re strongest at, and which you’d need the most training on
What part of this role you're most excited about
Your available hours per week and your rate expectation

I read every application that includes those three things. Applications without the word lighthouse I won’t open.
