Short-Form Video Editor for a Creative Content Studio — $50–$100 per Video, Steady Monthly Work
Confidential employer
ABOUT BRANDLYSS
Brandlyss is a content studio based in the United States. We build the digital presence of scholars, artists, and practice-led entrepreneurs. Our clients have serious bodies of work: books, exhibitions, research, performances, and portfolios. The videos we make have to be as considered as the work they present.
We are growing fast and adding editors to our roster. This is ongoing per-video work, not a one-off project.
WHAT YOU WILL EDIT
- Short-form vertical videos for Reels, TikTok, and Shorts, usually 1 to 3 minutes
- Talking-head footage combined with archival images, artworks, book covers, and B-roll
- On-screen captions, name cards, and titles of works
- Motion graphics and layered animation where the story calls for it
WHAT MAKES SOMEONE GOOD AT THIS JOB
- You read the script before you cut. We supply an approved script for every video. Captions are pasted from that script, never auto-transcribed. Names of people and titles of works must appear exactly as written.
- You make creative decisions without being asked: pacing, B-roll, music, and where an image should land.
- You find your own B-roll and supporting images when we do not supply them.
- Your edits feel refined, not loud. No meme effects, no over-editing, and no AI-generated visuals or voices unless we ask for them.
- You give a delivery date and you hit it.
REQUIREMENTS
- 2 or more years editing short-form video for clients, with a portfolio to show it. Open to less experience with a solid portfolio
- Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, plus After Effects or an equivalent for motion graphics
- Strong color correction and clean audio: noise removal, levels, and music mix
- Excellent written English, with close attention to spelling and punctuation
- Reliable internet and a computer that handles 4K footage
- Familiar with ---------- , where all feedback arrives as timestamped comments
- Day-to-day communication on WhatsApp, with a reply within one working day; comfortable with Slack or other messaging platforms
NICE TO HAVE
- Graphic design for carousels and static posts
- Experience with documentary, museum, academic, arts, fashion or publishing content
- Storyboarding from a script or a concept
WHAT EVERY VIDEO INCLUDES
- Length: 1 to 3 minutes, vertical
- Captions: included in every video, pasted from our script
- Motion graphics: included in every video, such as name cards, titles, and layered animation
- Revisions: included in the rate. Every cut goes through our internal review first, and any fixes needed to make it client-ready are part of the edit. After that, expect up to 2 rounds of client feedback.
- Volume: 4 to 6 videos a month guaranteed once you prove consistent quality and delivery. Until then, work is assigned video by video.
PAY AND HOW IT WORKS
- Paid trial: one test edit of 60 seconds or less for $40 USD, paid on delivery whether or not we use it
- After the trial: $50 USD per video to start
- Once you prove consistent quality and on-time delivery: $55 to $60 per video with 4 to 6 videos guaranteed every month. Senior editors, whose first cuts are client-ready without creative direction from us, earn $100 per video.
- Bonuses at the higher tiers for clean first drafts, on-time streaks, and high-performing videos
- You work your own hours. First drafts are due within 2-3 days of receiving footage, depending on the length of footage, and revisions are due within 24 hours.
- Every brief and every round of feedback comes from one person, our founder.
