About the role

I’m looking for a reliable, creative and proactive video editor and social media assistant to help me stay consistent on Instagram and TikTok.

I create Dutch-speaking content around lifestyle, personal development, business, content creation and entrepreneurship. I want to build a strong and consistent online presence without having to manage every editing, planning and posting task myself.

I’m looking for someone who can do more than just edit videos. I want someone who thinks along with me, spots opportunities, suggests content ideas and helps me turn the content I already create into as much valuable content as possible.

The goal is simple: create a consistent content system that allows us to publish regularly without me having to think about every single post.

1. Video editing

Your main responsibility will be editing short-form videos for Instagram Reels and TikTok.

Your tasks include:

• Editing talking-head videos in Dutch.
• Creating engaging hooks, adding captions and highlighting important words.
• Removing unnecessary pauses, filler words, mistakes and repetitive sections.
• Adding relevant B-roll, zoom-ins, transitions, sound effects and background music when appropriate.
• Improving pacing, storytelling and viewer retention.
• Creating clean, professional and visually engaging videos that match my personal brand.
• Exporting videos in the correct format and quality for Instagram and TikTok.
• Maintaining consistent editing quality across all content.

Important: My videos are spoken in Dutch. You must be able to understand spoken Dutch well enough to identify the key message, edit accurately, recognize important moments and create meaningful clips. Captions must also be accurate in Dutch. Automatic captions must always be checked and corrected.

You do not necessarily need to speak Dutch fluently, but you must demonstrate that you can work accurately with Dutch-language content.

2. Content repurposing

I want to get more value out of every video I record.

For example, one longer video could become several shorter videos, each focusing on a different point, lesson, story or strong hook.

Your responsibilities include:

• Identifying the strongest moments in longer recordings.
• Turning longer videos into multiple standalone short-form clips.
• Finding different hooks and angles within the same recording.
• Making sure each clip has a clear message and makes sense on its own.
• Suggesting alternative edits or opening hooks when they could improve the content.
• Avoiding repetitive clips that communicate essentially the same thing.

The goal is not simply to produce as many clips as possible. The goal is to create as many useful, engaging and relevant pieces of content as possible from the original footage.

3. Content batching and planning

I want us to work in content batches instead of handling every video as a separate task.

This means helping me organize and prepare content in advance so that we can maintain a consistent posting schedule.

Your responsibilities include:

• Helping organize raw footage and content ideas.
• Working with me to prepare content batches.
• Keeping track of which videos need editing, approval or publishing.
• Creating a clear content calendar.
• Suggesting relevant content ideas based on my existing content, audience and goals.
• Identifying opportunities to turn recurring themes into content series.
• Helping repurpose existing footage when I have limited time to record new videos.

I will provide the original footage, context and overall direction. I expect you to help turn that material into a structured, manageable content workflow.

4. Instagram and TikTok management

Once videos are edited and approved, you will help prepare and publish the content.

Tasks include:

• Preparing and scheduling approved videos on Instagram and TikTok.
• Writing or suggesting relevant captions.
• Suggesting suitable calls to action.
• Researching relevant keywords and hashtags when appropriate.
• Checking that videos, captions and covers are ready before publishing.
• Maintaining the agreed posting schedule.
• Keeping track of published content and upcoming posts.
• Flagging any technical issues or missing information before the scheduled publication date.

You must be comfortable working with social media scheduling and publishing tools. Access to my accounts will be provided through an agreed, secure process.

5. Creative thinking and initiative

This is a very important part of the role.

I don’t want someone who simply waits for instructions for every small task. I want someone who can think independently and identify opportunities to improve our content.

For example:

• “This part of the video would work better as a separate Reel.”
• “We could create three different hooks for this topic.”
• “This video would make a good recurring content series.”
• “We have enough footage here for next week’s posts.”
• “This editing style could make the message clearer.”
• “We should prepare these videos in advance to stay consistent.”

I value creative thinking, attention to detail, organization and solutions rather than just identifying problems.

You are encouraged to share ideas and recommendations. I will make the final decisions on content direction and brand positioning.

6. Requirements

I’m looking for someone who:

• Has experience editing short-form videos for Instagram Reels and TikTok.
• Can demonstrate a portfolio of relevant video-editing work.
• Can accurately understand spoken Dutch in video recordings.
• Can create accurate Dutch captions and subtitles.
• Understands short-form storytelling, hooks, pacing and audience retention.
• Is comfortable repurposing long-form content into shorter clips.
• Is organized, dependable and able to meet deadlines.
• Communicates clearly and proactively.
• Can work independently without needing constant supervision.
• Is open to feedback and can apply revisions correctly.
• Is interested in a long-term working relationship.

Experience with CapCut, Premiere Pro or similar editing software is welcome. Familiarity with Meta Business Suite, TikTok’s publishing tools and content calendars is an advantage.

7. Communication and workflow

I expect clear communication, realistic deadlines and consistent delivery.

You should:

• Confirm that you understand the task before starting when instructions are unclear.
• Let me know early if a deadline is at risk.
• Keep files organized and clearly labeled.
• Track the status of each video.
• Apply agreed feedback to future edits to reduce repeated revisions.
• Suggest improvements when you see an opportunity.

I want us to build a reliable system that becomes more efficient over time.

8. Application instructions

Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a small, paid editing test using Dutch-language footage. The test will help us evaluate your editing quality, understanding of the spoken content, caption accuracy and ability to identify strong short-form clips.
