About the Role

Job description:

Hey! We’re a small brand and web design studio in Brisbane, Australia. Two founders, two personal brand pages, and a growing pile of footage that neither of us has time to edit. That’s where you come in.

Who we’re looking for

Someone creative with a good eye, who thinks a little differently. You’re the kind of person who notices a cut is two frames too long and can’t sleep until it’s fixed.

One warning: we like things simple. If your favourite tools are flashing emojis, whoosh sounds and captions that bounce like a kids’ birthday party, we’re probably not a match. Our style is clean and minimal, and we follow our brand guidelines closely. Yes, we’re designers. Yes, we will notice the wrong font.

The role

Full-time, 40 hours per week
20-30 Reels per week
Turnaround: 48 hrs per video, with one round of revisions
Pay: competitive, based on skill and experience
Software: we’d prefer After Effects with Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve. But if you can get the same result in CapCut, go for it. We care about the result, not the tool
We’re reviewing applications this Sunday, 11 October, so get yours in before then

All videos are vertical (9:16, 1080x1920), 30 to 90 seconds, for Instagram Reels and TikTok. We send you the raw footage and screen recordings, so you’ll never have to film us. You’re welcome.

The 3 styles you’ll edit

Please watch each reference before you apply. It takes about three minutes.

Style 1: Single-take skit with captions
Reference: ----------

One continuous shot, no B-roll
Slow, smooth zoom-in on the speaker across the whole video
Title at the top for the first 2 to 3 seconds, with one keyword in a highlight colour
Word-by-word captions (1 to 3 words at a time) in the centre of the frame, timed exactly to the speech

Style 2: Talking head with website/screen overlays
Reference: ----------

Speaker stays in the lower half of the frame
Screenshots and screen recordings appear as floating windows above the speaker, changing every 2 to 4 seconds to match what is being said
Animated cursor, zoom-ins and highlights on the exact part of the screen being discussed
Small, clean captions in a white box
You will need to find and capture the websites and images mentioned in the script

Style 3: Voiceover B-roll montage
Reference: ----------

Voiceover over many short lifestyle clips (about one cut every 2 seconds)
Clips must match what is being said at that moment
Large keyword text on the opening hook, then small minimal captions for the rest
Light, consistent colour grade across all clips
Ends with a call to action on screen (e.g. comment “keyword”)

What every video needs

A hook in the first 2 seconds (title text plus movement)
Captions that are 100
