Family Cookbook Designer – Approx. 75 Recipes

Budget: $500–$700 USD, depending on experience

We are looking for an experienced book/layout designer to create a professionally designed family recipe book with approximately 60 recipes.

The cookbook will include:

• Several recipe categories/sections
• Family photos throughout
• Intro/opening pages
• Selected stock food photography
• Featured recipes from other family members
• Cover and back-cover design
• Final print-ready formatting

We plan to print approximately 10 copies.

DESIGN PROCESS
We would like the designer to first provide approximately 3 design concepts showing possible recipe layouts, typography, colors, section pages, and photo treatments. We will select one direction before completing the full book.

We especially want creative ideas for incorporating:

• Personal family photos
• Family stories or memories
• Featured recipes from relatives, including their photo/name and possibly a short note about the recipe
• A way to highlight certain recipes as family members’ favorites, such as “Dad’s Favorite,” “Jessica’s Favorite,” or a small badge/icon treatment that fits the overall design

REQUIREMENTS
We are looking for someone with:

• Previous book, cookbook, magazine, or editorial design experience
• Adobe InDesign experience preferred
• Experience preparing files for professional printing
• Strong photo and typography/layout skills
• Access to licensed stock photography, such as Adobe Stock, Envato Elements, Canva Pro, etc.
• Basic to intermediate photo editing/retouching skills, including light brightening/color correction and simple object removal for older family photos
