Research & Data Operations Assistant
Confidential employer
LandScout is a U.S. real estate technology startup that tracks new development projects from the earliest stages of the municipal planning process.
We're looking for a detail-oriented researcher based in the Philippines to help us discover, research, and maintain development projects in our database.
What you'll do:
You'll research U.S. city and county government websites, planning applications, meeting agendas, staff reports, property records, maps, and other public sources.
Your work may include:
- Finding newly submitted real estate development applications
- Researching individual development projects
- Identifying property owners, applicants, developers, architects, and other companies
- Recording addresses, parcel numbers, zoning, proposed uses, units/lots, and filing dates
- Finding planning commission and city council meetings related to projects
- Reviewing agendas, minutes, staff reports, and other government documents
- Adding source links and supporting documentation
- Updating existing projects as new information becomes available
- Flagging information that cannot be confidently verified
You do not need prior U.S. real estate experience. We will train you on our system.
What matters much more is that you are an excellent online researcher, extremely detail-oriented, comfortable learning unfamiliar websites, and willing to investigate when the answer isn't immediately obvious.
Important: We value accuracy over filling every field. If you cannot verify something, we would rather you mark it unknown than guess.
Requirements:
- Excellent written English
- Strong online research skills
- Very high attention to detail
- Comfortable working with spreadsheets and web applications
- Able to follow detailed procedures consistently
- Good judgment when information is incomplete or contradictory
- Reliable computer and internet connection
- Comfortable working independently and asking questions when genuinely stuck
- Experience with real estate, GIS, government records, data entry, legal research, research assistance, or similar work is helpful but not required.
Compensation:
$7 USD/hour to start.
We expect to begin with approximately 20 hours/week during the training and trial period, with the opportunity for substantially more hours and a long-term role if the fit is strong.
This is a direct role with LandScout. We are not a VA agency.
Hiring process:
Selected applicants will complete a short paid research exercise involving a real U.S. development project. We are evaluating research ability, accuracy, judgment, and attention to detail.
To apply, please send:
- A short introduction about yourself.
- Your resume.
- One example of a job or project where you had to research information that was difficult to find.
- Your current work situation and weekly availability.
- Confirm that you are comfortable starting at $7 USD/hour.
- Start your application with the words "BLUE PARCEL" so we know you read the full posting.
We are looking to hire quickly and successful candidates may be able to start within the next several days.
