About the Role

Marketing Strategist (Growth Strategy)

Schedule and pay

Full-time at $10 USD per hour from day one. There will be a performance review after 90 days; it does not include an automatic pay increase.

Creative Nomads is looking for a high-level marketing strategist who can understand an organization's goals, diagnose what is limiting growth, and give the team a clear strategy to move forward. You'll work alongside Julius and our marketing, content, design, development, and account teams to help clients connect the right audience, message, experience, and follow-up to meaningful outcomes.

Your central responsibility is growth strategy and direction. SEO, paid advertising, targeting, analytics, and retargeting are tools you'll bring together within that strategy. Specialists will carry out the channel work, and you'll give them clear priorities, briefs, and ways to judge whether the work is helping.

What you'll own

  • Understand the client's business or organizational model, goals, audience, offer, current customer journey, and constraints before recommending channels or tactics
  • Identify the most important growth bottleneck, distinguishing audience fit, positioning, awareness, conversion, follow-up, retention, and measurement problems
  • Develop customer segments and targeting priorities based on needs, intent, fit, economics where relevant, and available evidence
  • Shape positioning, messages, offers, and conversion paths so the right people understand the value and know what to do next
  • Build practical 90-day growth roadmaps with a few clear priorities, hypotheses, resource estimates, dependencies, owners, and decision points
  • Connect acquisition with the rest of the journey, including nurture, retargeting, conversion, and relevant retention, referral, or repeat-engagement opportunities
  • Define meaningful outcomes and use analytics, funnel evidence, lead quality, and commercial or mission-related measures to evaluate progress without overstating attribution
  • Guide SEO, paid-media, content, creative, and website specialists through useful briefs, reviews, and a shared understanding of the strategy
  • Explain recommendations clearly to Julius, the account team, and clients: what we know, what we are assuming, why a priority matters, and what would change the plan
  • Use evidence from results and customer feedback to refine the strategy, stop weak ideas, and help the team focus its effort

How you'll work with the team

You'll own the quality and clarity of your strategic recommendations, roadmaps, briefs, and reviews. You'll support Julius and help coordinate the marketing team rather than take over every channel's daily execution.

SEO and ads specialists will handle channel execution and detailed optimization. Writers and designers will develop content and creative. Developers and analytics specialists will implement technical changes where needed. You'll understand these areas well enough to ask useful questions, challenge weak assumptions, and evaluate the evidence they bring back.

You'll collaborate with client and account stakeholders on sales handoffs, lifecycle improvements, and growth priorities. Changes to their processes, media spending, scope, and client commitments follow agreed approval limits. Your initial client portfolio and reporting line will be confirmed before an offer.

What we need

  • Evidence that you've diagnosed a marketing or growth problem and built a coherent strategy connecting audience, offer, positioning, journey, and measurable outcomes
  • Strong customer segmentation and targeting judgment, including the ability to recognize when more traffic or more leads would not solve the underlying problem
  • A practical understanding of funnels, conversion, nurture and retargeting, plus when retention, referrals or repeat engagement may be useful growth opportunities
  • Analytical confidence: interpret funnel and channel data, distinguish events from business outcomes, assess lead quality and economics where appropriate, and make honest decisions with incomplete data
  • Enough SEO, paid-media, content, creative, and conversion knowledge to direct specialists and evaluate their recommendations; hands-on media buying or SEO implementation is not the central requirement
  • Ability to prioritize a small number of worthwhile initiatives within real budgets, team capacity, and approval boundaries
  • Clear communication, accountable follow-through, and experience turning strategic decisions into briefs and work another person can execute
  • Willingness to change a recommendation when evidence changes, explain a mistake, and protect confidential information
  • Responsible use of AI or other research tools, with verification of important claims and ownership of the final work

Show us the work and the decisions behind it. A particular degree, certification, or fixed number of years is not required when you can demonstrate the relevant ability. Equivalent tools and transferable experience are welcome.

Helpful, but not required

  • Agency or multi-client strategy experience
  • Experience with service businesses, nonprofit organizations, or other mission-driven organizations
  • Customer research, positioning, lifecycle marketing, conversion research, or CRM/sales-handoff improvement
  • Comfort interpreting GA4, Search Console, CRM, campaign, and reporting data with specialists
  • Experience planning SEO or paid-media initiatives as part of a broader growth strategy
  • Experience evaluating new channels such as LinkedIn or TikTok when the audience, offer and economics justify a test

Your first 90 days

First 30 days: Learn a manageable initial group of clients, their goals, audiences, offers, current plans, and team responsibilities. Clarify the outcomes that matter, identify material measurement gaps, and present an evidence-based diagnosis of the leading growth constraints.

By 60 days: Agree focused growth roadmaps with Julius and the relevant stakeholders. Guide the first approved initiatives through clear specialist briefs. Establish a useful cadence for reviewing outcomes, assumptions, blockers, and decisions.

By 90 days: Evaluate the early evidence, separating what has been learned from what is still too early to conclude. Recommend what to continue, change, or stop, and set clear next-quarter priorities. Improve at least one recurring strategy, briefing, or review process. Account load and the number of initiatives will match agreed hours and team capacity.

How success will be evaluated

  • Clear diagnoses that connect the organization's goals to customer needs and a defensible growth priority
  • Focused roadmaps and briefs that specialists can act on, delivered on agreed dates
  • Useful measurement definitions, transparent assumptions, and early escalation of significant evidence gaps
  • Approved experiments with a hypothesis, audience, resource boundary, success or stop criteria, and an honest readout
  • Evidence of better qualified demand, conversion, engagement, retention, or efficiency where relevant and supported by the observation window
  • Strong collaboration and client understanding, including clear ownership, decisions, and follow-through

Outcome targets will be agreed after reviewing baselines, budgets, implementation capacity, sales or service processes, and the client's business or mission. This role influences growth through sound strategy and coordinated execution; results also depend on decisions and work shared with the client and team.

The hiring process includes a short practical assessment using a fictional business and a follow-up conversation about your decisions. AI and reference tools are allowed with disclosure and verification.
