About the Role

Software Developer — Operations, Delivery & AI (JavaScript/Typescript/Node.js)

Token of Trust is hiring two developers for long-term work across software development, integrations, and business operations.

Token of Trust is an award winning US-based software company working in identity verification and regulated ecommerce. We’re looking for resourceful developers who enjoy learning new systems, solving problems, and turning requirements into software people can use.

You’ll build experience across product development, integrations, and operations, with work that reaches real users. We’re hiring for a lasting working relationship: the last two developers hired through this process are both still with us full-time, one of them is now Scrum Master for our Ops Development team. We want these next two hires to grow into people we trust with increasingly important parts of the business.

Your first project: pilot our newest product

Your first assignment will help shape our newest product. You’ll use Regulated Storefront as an agency developer would: build from a brief, test the experience, and identify what would make it better. We want your judgment as well as your code. When you uncover a problem, we’ll value a clear diagnosis and a proposed improvement.

As you earn trust, you’ll take ownership of larger outcomes—from understanding the need through delivery and verification.

The paid trial is a chance for both of us to assess the fit. Before starting, we’ll agree on the assignment, paid time budget, rate, and evaluation criteria. You’ll get a clear point of contact and feedback on your work. You’ll also experience how we communicate, make decisions, and support developers when something is unclear or broken.

We’re hiring for two ongoing roles; the trial is how we determine whether there’s a strong mutual fit.

What you’ll do

  • Build integrations, automation, and web functionality using JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js.
  • Work with APIs and structured data to connect systems and reduce manual work.
  • Investigate bugs and operational problems, including in unfamiliar code.
  • Use AI coding tools while reviewing, understanding, and testing their output.
  • Take work from a business requirement through to a verified, usable result.
  • Improve documentation and recurring processes as you learn.

What we’re looking for

You should have practical experience with JavaScript, Node.js, APIs, Git, and web development fundamentals. Familiarity with Unix/Linux is helpful.

We value developers who investigate before escalating, recognize when they need help, and communicate clearly about what they tried and what they recommend next.

You don’t need to know every tool already. You do need to learn quickly, follow through, and check that your work actually solves the problem.

Experience with TypeScript, knowledge of ecommerce, cloud services, data pipelines, or AI-assisted development is welcome.

Paid working trial

Shortlisted candidates will receive a defined Storefront assignment, documentation, and the access needed to complete it. We’ll agree on the paid hours, rate, and deliverables before you begin.

We’ll evaluate what you deliver and how you investigate, test, communicate, and respond to feedback. Useful reports of product problems are part of the work.

Successful candidates may continue into ongoing part-time or full-time work.

Compensation and schedule

Starting compensation: up to $9 USD/hour, depending on experience and demonstrated ability.

We need consistent overlap with US Central Time business hours for collaboration. We can be flexible about your start and finish times, provided we agree on a reliable daily overlap. Please include your available working hours and time zone in your application.

How to apply

Send your resume or professional profile and brief answers to these questions:

1. What’s one relevant project you built or materially contributed to? Explain your contribution and include a link if available; private work can be described.
2. What hours can you commit each week, when could you start, and what hourly rate are you seeking?

Please also spend a few minutes exploring Storefront. We’ll discuss what interests you about the product during the next step.
