About the Role

You'll be supporting the procurement team within a mechanical installation company. The role stands between the project teams, engineers, finance team and suppliers, making sure the correct materials and equipment are ordered, delivered and recorded on time at the correct locations. Working along with the Procurement Manager, you'll keep purchasing of materials on track as well as all relevant documentation.

What you'll be doing
Raising purchase orders from project requisitions, making sure every detail (specification, size, quantity, delivery date, cost code) is complete and correct
Planning and booking deliveries around project programmes and site requirements
Checking deliveries against orders and reporting shortages, damages or incorrect items
Obtaining and comparing supplier quotes, looking at the full picture (scope, exclusions, lead times, warranties, payment terms) rather than just the headline price
Matching purchase orders, delivery notes and invoices, and supporting our finance team
Keeping procurement logs, trackers and supplier records accurate and up to date
Filing supplier documentation such as certificates, approvals and warranties
Who we're looking for
We care more about how you think and work than about what's on your CV. Above all, we want someone who:
Uses common sense, and can work out the sensible next step without being told
Adapts quickly, and learns new systems, products and ways of working with ease
Takes initiative, and spots problems, asks questions and acts rather than waiting
Is proactive, chasing things down and keeping people informed before they have to ask
Stays calm under pressure and keeps a close eye on detail and deadlines
Requirements
Good written and spoken English (you'll communicate daily with UK colleagues and suppliers by phone, email and video call)
Able to work UK hours, 8:00-17:30, from a quiet home workspace with a reliable internet connection
Comfortable with Microsoft Office, especially Excel (lookups, tables, tracking spreadsheets)
Good numeracy and accurate data entry
Confident communicator, comfortable speaking to suppliers and challenging them politely but firmly
