About the Role

Company: Hero Packaging (based in Sydney, Australia)

About Hero Packaging:

Hero Packaging is an Australian sustainable packaging company. We supply thousands of businesses with custom-printed packaging, and every custom order passes through our prepress team before it goes to print.

About the role:

You'll join our existing prepress designer to turn customers' artwork into accurate, print-ready files. This is a technical production role rather than a creative one. The work is about precision: getting sizes, colours, and layouts exactly right, every time. A mistake that gets past prepress ends up printed on thousands of units, so we're looking for someone who checks their work carefully.

What you'll do:

  • Set up print-ready files on our product templates and dielines, to the correct size, bleed, safe area, and colour specifications
  • Adjust customers' supplied artwork so it is printable: resizing, repositioning, fixing resolution, converting colours, outlining fonts, and recreating low-quality logos as vectors
  • Create clear PDF approvals (proofs) showing the customer exactly how their packaging will print
  • Apply customer revisions quickly and accurately, and keep track of versions
  • Check every file against the order details before it is sent for approval or to print
  • Flag artwork problems early, such as low resolution, colours that won't print as expected, or text too close to the edge
  • Keep files organised and named consistently so anyone on the team can pick up a job

What we're looking for:

  • At least 2 years' experience in prepress, print production, or packaging artwork
  • Advanced Adobe Illustrator skills, plus confidence in Photoshop and Acrobat
  • A solid understanding of print fundamentals: CMYK and Pantone colours, bleed, dielines, vector and raster artwork, resolution, and overprint
  • Very high attention to detail, with a habit of double-checking your own work
  • Clear written English, and the confidence to ask when a brief is unclear
  • The ability to work through a steady queue of jobs and meet daily turnaround times
  • A reliable computer, a stable internet connection, and a backup plan for outages

Nice to have:

  • Experience with packaging such as mailers, boxes, labels, or flexible packaging
  • Experience preparing files for flexographic or gravure printing
  • Experience working remotely with an Australian or other international team

What we offer:

AUD $6–$9 per hour, based on experience, with stable full-time hours
A long-term role with a growing Australian brand
Daytime hours, since Sydney is only 2–3 hours ahead of the Philippines
Training on our products, templates, and processes from our current prepress designer

How to apply:

Send us:

  • Your CV
  • A portfolio or samples of prepress or print production work, with before-and-after examples if you have them
  • A short note on your prepress experience and the software you use daily
